Yeah I saw the reviews. Too bad. Guess I'll pass. My older foldable soundcores finally gave out after about 6 years so thought this might be a replacement. I'll keep looking.
I bought these 4 years ago mostly for air travel. Noise cancelling works alright in the plane. Not as good as a Bose but decent enough. The pads are soft enough to wear for a long flight and it doesn't hurt hours later pushing my glasses frame against my head.

I have these. They are fairly good headphones. Only negative that I have is that it takes too long to turn off. Once you press the power button you have to wait like 8 seconds.
