It's in the fine print:
'Purchase qualifying membership and spend $60, before discounts and after taxes, in one transaction in-club or on BJs.com within 30 days of membership enrollment, get a $20 reward added to the primary membership account within 48 hours of qualifying purchase to be used within 30 days from the date of the qualifying purchase. If not redeemed within 30 days of receipt, reward will no longer be available.

yes same thing said in other threads. people wanted to know if there's indication in the coupons prior to buying, or coupon loaded into account. some reported they did not receive the $20 reward and had to go to the membership counter

I interpret "get a $20 reward added to the primary membership account within 48 hours of qualifying purchase" language as it's loaded to the membership card/app once you qualify. If not, yeah then a trip to the membership counter should resolve it. I just signed up, haven't been a BJ's member since 2018 -- we'll see how it plays out.

BJ's is an utter and absolute JOKE - you have use DIGITAL COUPONS to get their savings

So im already being forced to pay a membership to enter your store, then you are going to force me to buy items in bulk, and finally to add insult to injury if i want those great prices then I have to find the coupon and THEN get the sale?

BJs makes Sams look like a luxury Costco.

BJs = forced to use coupons, terrible product selection, prices that are worst than Costco and Sams

Only reason anyone should step inside is if you dont have Costo/Sams within an hour driving and even then Id make that drive than go to BJ aka "basically junk"

Is the link working for others? It leads me to a standard Bjs page with membership customer care, quick links, corporate etc with links under them. At the top of the page, the "join today" or under the membership options/join link leads to the standard $55 fee to join or $110 for the club+ version. I googled and found other sites like stack social offer the same $20 deal but would prefer skipping them if this SD offer lead to the BJs site itself. Any suggestions? thanks. If it matters i am in Michigan.

Thank you! That offer says it only applies to the jacksonville store in the fine print. But earlier i found the deal using the usual search engines and i think i see the problem. Some stores are excluded from the offer and that may be why when i click the main link it does not offer me the deal.

Fair enough. I'm not sure it matters since you have access to all locations, but this offer is not location specific:

Thanks again. Good point that while the fine print says that on the offer given one can shop anywhere in the country it may or may not affect the initial membership. it may affect when it comes to getting the rebate back if I pick up from a local store. Also there is through Bjs itself a similar offer not limited to jacksonville. And yes the stack social offer you linked is the one i mentioned in my first post. I try where possible to use the stores offer itself so they dont refuse the rebate but in this case may be it may avoid the issue with the location of the store (michigan seems out of bounds for the offers). i suspect in the next month there may be a similar less constrained offer from BJs given we are close to thanksgiving.

I have been a member for years, and I split the membership with a friend, so we each paid $27. This year she decided to get her own and share it with her mom. I don't shop there often enough to pay $55, so I let it lapse. (I expired Aug 31.) I just got an email from BJ;s this week with an offer to renew for $25. So if you want a renewal discount wait a month and check your emails.

I agree. I was a longtime member but did not renew a couple of years ago since I didn't save enough to pay for the membership. I don't have a Costco or Sam's nearby and my BJ's doesn't sell gas. But I figured out if you saved coupons on their phone app in advance, you didn't have to deal with the paper. And since they limit coupon items to one per customer, you could game the system to get two items by using the app and the paper coupon -- you just had to go through the checkout twice.

By coincidence I went to BJ's yesterday to have my BJ's-purchased tires rotated for free. I had an appointment. The head attendant filled out all the paper work and had me sign two forms. Then they put my car on the lift. Soon after the second attendant came in to tell the head man that the air compressor was broke. I asked them if they could remove the lug nuts the old fashioned way -- with a wrench. They said they don't have wrenches. I am rescheduled for Monday.

Yes I've done that every year let it expire and usually get $20 or $25 offer.
I see another thread which states there is $10 renewal offer for expired membership.
