Could you please elaborate?
I have Firestick 4K version and I have been streaming 4K content with Kodi with no issues.

Don't forget an additional 20% off with trade-in. And an instant Amazon gift card for the trade-in value that you can use towards the purchase.

Got 20% off plus a $5 instant gift card for trading in an older Fire TV Stick 4K for a current gen 4K Max.

Last I checked, if you don't send your trade-in by the due date (45 days), you'll still get the additional 20% discount, but will be charged for the instant gift card.

Trade-in doesn't have to be a streaming device:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/browse....9187220011

EDIT: Terms state that the 20% rebate is displayed at checkout but will not be received until submission of the trade-in device. So, the transaction may not be considered as complete by Amazon until trade-in is received or expired.

I would look at other reasons than the stick if you're having that issue. I've had the 4K and 4K max, and somewhat recently upgrade to the new 4K max. I've streamed 4K content on Kodi effortlessly, even files 80+ GB's. Either you need a debrid service, or your internet isn't capable of streaming 4K, but it's not the stick.

I returned my old fire stick to Whole Foods and I got the 20% trade offer. It's showing in my Amazon cart when I check out with fire Cube but it says I will get the 20% back later after purchase? Is this right? How long do I have to wait to get the 20% Back Credit?

Wondering if I should buy the cube since I have the 20% off trade offer or just get the max device. Is the only difference upscaling? I don't use Alexa apparently the cube has better upscaling? I already have Shield device but shield doesn't do HDR 10 plus that my Samsung TV supports

Have these things gotten any faster over the years? I had bought one for every TV but they got so slow it's unusable. My only TV that has one built-in takes one minute to load before I can even use it and then I switch the input to Roku.

Anyone know if they've gotten faster? Thanks.

Boooo! 4k max has basically been $35 all year. It was $25 on Black Friday. It's only getting older. I'm holding out until it's $25 again
Completely untrue. It was $40 last BFCM and $35 on PD. It's literally never been $25, check any pricing tool

Should I get the max or the regular 4k? We only use this for streaming Disney plus and Netflix. Primarily purchasing because the remote of our old 4k needs to be replaced.

I'm still using 2 gen 1 fire cubes I bought for $60 each. 1 works great, the other slows down sometimes, like click, wait 2 seconds, click wait. A reboot fixes it up, but when the content I want is only 4 or 5 clicks away it's faster to just click wait, then to reboot when I'm done watching for the night.
I wouldn't mind having 2 new fire cubes but I'm cheap and my old cubes still work.

No trade in of the POS Recast that Amazon just finished crippling. They will recycle it for free. Never buy tech from a book store.

Dear Customer,

We're contacting you regarding your Fire TV Recast device.

Starting 9/27/24, your Echo Show devices will no longer be able to record and stream content from Fire TV Recast. You will still be able to use your Fire TV streaming devices and Fire TV mobile app, available on iOS and Android devices, with Fire TV Recast. Echo Show devices continue to offer a variety of entertainment options, such as Fire TV Channels, Prime Video, online streaming providers, and more.

Are firestick and the likes still viable? Most HDTVs are smart tvs and have streaming capabilities already.

Regular 4k is plenty for streaming.
4k max is only better if you want to futureproof or sideload more demanding apps.

Many people buy these because you can sideload and run android apps on them. Something you can't do on TVs that aren't running Google/Android TV OS or Fire TV OS.

Easy to pair an xbox controller with the max? Also, can you use the xbox controller as a media remote?

Is there any reason to get a Fire TV Stick vs a Roku Streaming Stick? I mainly use the usual streamers like Disney+, Paramount+, Netflix, etc. I also have Amazon Prime but don't want to see Prime ads blasted every time I turn on the Fire.

The only thing making me hesitate is that the Roku Streaming Stick came out in 2021 and they still haven't refreshed it. I'm betting the latest Fire TV Stick has a faster processor (for now).

Not looking to get any box sized models like the regular Roku or Apple TV because I just want a small stick for the bedroom.

They have absolutely gotten faster. The new 4k Max will smoke the 1st and 2nd Gen Fire Stick/Cube products. The 4k Max has 16gb internal storage which means it will likely never run out of internal memory which is usually why Fire Sticks start slowing down. Don't cheap out and get the 4k version in this deal - spend the extra $10 and get the 4k Max with the extra memory and you'll be a happy camper (especially if you are sideloading apps!).

p.s. The built-in Fire sticks are the WORST. Slow CPU with little to no memory. I wouldn't recommend any TV's that have them.
