Because you might destroy your device. This was the biggest issue when third party usb-C cables were coming out. A Google engineer was testing them all and leaving completely accurate reviews. He finally came across one that killed his Chromebook. Sure you get a $3 refund, but completely not worth 'rolling the dice'.

Even though the business name is shady all the review said the cord is thick and charges all the devices fast so I'll roll a dice. It's only $3 for 5 cables. Why not.

I've bought so many of these cheapo cables, knocking on wood, I still haven't had an issue with any of these cheap ones. If anything messes up it'll likely be the cable.

My daughter and wife manage to jack up cables somehow. These work as cheap charging cables to have as spares. Hopefully these last longer than a few months
