Sous vide machines are very simple and all do essentially the same thing. Buying a breville one is not worth the premium price. Someone convince me otherwise.

(I say this as someone who has a very expensive breville toaster oven and espresso machine, among other breville products that I love - I'm honestly curious if there's a reason to get this over a sous vide that's well under $100).

Cheap cooker vs cheap multimeter ... I don't know which one I am betting on tbh.

I wouldn't get the cheapest one, but overall you are correct, they pretty much do the same thing. Premium models usually have some nice touches, like this one has a magnet to hold it, remote control via app (but I feel like that might be a downside for some since there are no controls on the unit itself).

Pay $200 to stick a waterproof hair iron in your pot.

Didn't they piss off a bunch of people because they discontinued one of their previous sous vide app or something?

I bought an Anova Precision bundle w/ the 12L container for under $100. Item was a Christmas gift, used a couple of times and the person didn't have the patience for it. Regular price $199, Costco/Sam's Club usually sell them new around $140 during the holidays in a bundle. You can usually find them on eBay around $100-125 depending on time of year.

Breville bought the Joule/ChefSteps company in '19 year to bring into the fold. It's a good product, but not worth the extra money for my needs. The magnet is good w a pan that will fit the height. I'm either at home using it or slow-roasting so the wireless/app isn't a high priority for me.

Corned beef and rib roasts are amazing w/ the sous vide.

My 2 cents as I own the non turbo model.

Pros:
Very Slim versus the Anova I owned
Very Quiet versus the Anova I owned (the Anova annoyed me so much with its winding noise)
Nice app with recipes and videos on how to make your food.
Magnet base so it sticks to a pot versus having to hang it

Cons:
No physical buttons, app dependent
Bluetooth is finicky sometimes.
Pretty pricey, but I got mine for 130 via prime day and discover 30% stacking.

I wouldn't have purchased it at 200 though.

When Breville bought out Joule/ChefStep, the transfer of recipes from the Joule to Breville+ apps wasn't overly smooth for some users.

Think it was the wifi function too or something

Edit: Nvm that's the Anova one

The breville+ app actually much more stable than the old app for my non turbo.

Same here. The old app was awful and made my joule so hard to use. The new app is a breeze.

I got a cheap one at monoprice via SD, wanna say under $50 use it a few times a month last few years, from small plastic containers to a huge pork but in the sink. It works great, easy buttons and app. Not sure what would be 400% better or maybe a feature I'm not aware of. Def recommend sous vide if you cook at home.
