I wish the trade-in deal would give me the discount once I ship in the device and have it approved, rather than having to ship it in first, and then wait for the coupon to arrive in case a deal pops up.

Just send the trade a week before black Friday. That's the best way to try and time one of these deals.

My discount is automatically applied in cart immediately after I confirmed my trade-in and added the Kindle to cart. Says I have until November to send the device, but I got the discount right now.

I would pass on this deal if I were you in order to be able to get my trade-in discount for later, knowing that this offer or maybe even mildly better will pop up sometime between now and Black Friday. The deals often start in October, and it can take Amazon a week or two to actually get around to appraising your trade-in after you've mailed it (so waiting to mail it just before BF might mean they won't have appraised it in time to give you that discount before BF; besides, BF deals now start weeks in advance as stores compete for your holiday spending.) So I'd submit the trade-in plenty early in order to have that discount waiting for me in time to catch early sales, but I'd wait for Oct. 2 to do it because it looks like the current trade-in period is ending Oct. 1 and a new one should start Oct. 2 - the date you submit the trade-in affects the quarter your 20% discount falls under, which affects when it expires. So I'd wait for Oct. 2, just to give your discount code a further-out expiration date (presumably; we won't know the new date until the terms page gets updated, probably on Oct. 2, but I'd expect it to be a longer exp. date).

However, even if you submit the trade-in right now, the discount they'd give you won't expire until Nov. 30, so you'd surely find a good deal before then. Here's the link explaining expiration dates on your trade-in discount [amazon.com].

Supposedly a new basic kindle is being released tomorrow? Maybe it's worth waiting to see.

Is this worth pulling the trigger on now if I don't have a device to trade-in? I've been eyeing a Kindle Paperwhite (without lock screen ads) for a while now so that I can use it while traveling.

I did a trade in + discount with an old fire tablet and other amazon device.

Paid $165 for two kids version. Not bad at all! I almost ordered these yesterday for my kids at full price!

Dont see the need to wait for a new one... I'm still using my 2019 Paperwhite and it runs perfectly without issue.

I just traded in an Amazon Fire stick last weekend and they gave me the 20% and a gift card instantly. Just try checking on your account. The other thing is they give you the option the drop off the package to an Amazon store (in my case it was a Whole Foods store) which I suppose will give you the discount faster if they didn't give it to you instantly.

Does the trade-in on a non-Kindle device give you 20% discount on Kindle?

Would be really nice if they do. I'm sure there's some Amazon crap I can get rid of.

When you go to the Trade in page it says
"Choose your discount to get started", you can choose Kindle, Fire tablet, Fire TV, Ring & blink or Eero router.

Edit: Added a word.

Can you use Libby on your kindle? Or would you be forced to purchase books through Amazon?
