I know it's $5K, but with brand new Shimano Ultegra Di2 12 speed and full Ultegra powertrain, except for the BB which is a Token Ninja Press Fit setup. The LOOK 38D carbon fiber wheels [lookcycle.com], alone, sell for $1,100 and are a collaboration between French LOOK and Corima and use DT Swiss spokes and DT 370 hubs. The wheels come with Continent GP5000 Tubeless (25mm) tires mounted (which sell for around $80 a piece). The Huez RS frameset, alone, sells for $4K. So, just the frame and carbon fiber Look/Corima wheels are worth about $5,100 - by themselves. According to a 2 year old article on an 11 speed mechanical version of LOOK Huez RS, the (L) frame size weighs 17 lbs. The 2024 Di2 12 speed in Medium, should be very close to that same weight, and possible a bit lighter.

Features:
  • A high modulus carbon frame with a modern, avant-garde design
  • The brand new Shimano Ultegra Di2 12 speed electronic groupset.
  • 38mm, full carbon LOOK wheels that make no compromise on performance
Specs:
Made by LOOK
  • Frame: LOOK 785 HUEZ RS disc
  • Seatpost: LOOK LS1 CARBON SUPER LIGHT 27.2 mm 350 mm

This is pretty good deal!

Pros: price, relatively light weight frame (under 1k grams), new 12 speed Ultegra is all you need.
Cons: Those carbon wheels are heavy and narrow. (1660 gm and 19mm internal) 25mm tires are a too narrow for the modern road bike. At this price expected better handlebars, although they are pretty easy to chance.

Neither here or there - external cables ahead of the head tube. Some people like the easy of maintaining and changing cables, some like the look of integrated cables.

1660 for a set of carbon rims isn't really "heavy." I mean, 1550 grams is in the "very light" wheel range, right? And with the bullet proof DT Swiss 370 hubs, that's a fairly reasonable weight IMO. A lot of people still ride 25 mm tires, as well... they tend to have the lowest rolling resistance and one of the best price points. That said, the LOOK rims [lookcycle.com] will accommodate up to a 30mm tire... so, high end road bike tires only last a few thousand miles, anyway, so it won't be long until you're buying new tires and then you can install your own fatter 28mm or 30mm tires. According to this article [roadbikeaction.com], the Huez can handle up to a 30mm tire.

It's a fair critique that the handlebars are lower end... at this price point, carbon handlebars would be nice. Given the price point, the higher end wheels and Di2 12 speed Ultegra, I'm guessing the use of a lower end aluminum handlebar was a cost cutting measure. Also, integrated LOOKs awesome (pun intended), but if you work on your own bike... they can be a nightmare.

It currently has 0 thumbs up... but I think it's a pretty good deal.

1660 grams is absolutely atrocious for a set of carbon wheels. Even something basic like a HUNT 34 Aero Wide alloys are 1565 grams. For example the low end Specialized bikes come with the C38 Rovals with the same hubs and they are still under 1600 grams. I guess you can always upgrade to something a little lighter down the road. Narrow rim combined with narrow tire will give it pretty bad ride.

Going to 30mm will not only add comfort, puncture protection, but also not make any difference on the speed. (Check the https://www.bicyclerollingresista...00-s-tr-30 and add the 25mm to the comparison. You can see that they all have pretty much the same rolling resistance.) On my road bike I run 32mm tires in the off season, and race on the 30mm. If it's fast enough for Tadej, it is okay for me.

If it were me, I'd get just the frameset that's also on sale https://www.biketiresdirect.com/p...tr=&sg=505 build it up with Ultegra (https://www.eurobikeparts.com/pro...0-Di2-Full) and get nicer wheelset from Hunt (something like this https://us.huntbikewheels.com/pro...c-wheelset). Add some handlebars/stem/tape/etc.. still comes under the price of the full bike , but you will have it exactly the way you want it.

I'd still take these LOOK/Corima wheels over those Hunt wheels you linked. The Hunt's are decent wheels, and they are definitely lighter, but 100 grams only equals 3.5 oz, which is about 1/5 of a pound. I wouldn't call that an "atrocious" amount of extra weight. You're idea about just buying the frame and building it up with parts does have merit - and that does look a pretty damn good price on Shimano Di2 12 speed from Eurobikeparts.com, but then you actually have to build the bike or pay somebody else to build it. That a pain in the arse, and could be hundreds of extra dollars depending on the bike shop (which is less likely to give you a break when you bought everything online). But yeah, if you build it up yourself, and buy that LOOK frame on BTD, yeah, you could get a really nice bike at a relatively reasonable price.

This is not a great deal at all. The wheels are heavy as mentioned, and the DT 370 hubs at this price point are definitely low rent, as well as the alloy handlebar.

A "deal" with these specs would be $3k for a hot deal, and $3.5k for a warm one.

Also, this bike has pretty racy geometry. Definitely wouldn't pick it up as a commuter, lol. I think an endurance geometry road or gravel bike would work much better for this purpose.

You're crazy. There are $6k + Pinarellos running Shimano 105 and even heavier Fulcrum aluminum wheels. I don't know where you're getting a LOOK Huez RS with 12 speed Ultegra Di2 and carbon rims for $3k... except off of Facebook Marketplace, used. Even the bare frame, on sale/clearance, sells for about $2k. And brand name carbon handlebars aren't cheap, so you also aren't finding that at $3k price point, either. Please show me all the bikes you've found with these types of specs for $3K.

I'll wait...

I mean the canyon endurance cf8 is $3400 and is all carbon (minus the wheels) and ultegra di2. Maybe the carbon wheels and more aggressive geometry are worth it to you?

I think the look for $5k still isn't great value, but what really is when you're talking about $5k+ bikes? Smilie

Do you have a link? What's the weight of the Canyon? This is one of the top road frames from LOOK as well - not sure how the Canyon frame compares.

EDIT - just looked up the bike you're referencing, and it's 18.57 lbs (not sure which size)... but the LOOK Huez RS is only 17 lbs in size Large. So, it's not quite in the same class as the Huez RS.

There's more important things than weight. $1700 extra for a 600g difference is crazy unless you're riding at a professional level, and then you shouldn't be buying your own bikes. Plus if you replace the aluminum wheels on the canyon with nicer cf wheels you'll close the gap and still spend less

Pinarello? That brand is a not what it used to be with frames being made who knows where, and many models are sold at huge discounts. Their "$6k+" bike with 105 DI2 2x12 that you speak of, as well as a bunch of their gravel bikes are frequently sold for almost 50% off (or more in some cases). Here is that $6k road bike being sold for $3198:

https://www.excelsports.com/pinar...sku=014228

Look bud, I get it, you posted the deal and are being defensive about it, however Look while a good brand is not exactly bike porn, so I don't know why it would command a 50%+ premium vs other bikes that have similar or better specs. Here is an example of a bike with specs as good or better than the Look you posted for $3199. Full Ultegra DI2 2x12, quality Reynolds AR41 DB carbon wheels (which I prefer over the ones on the Look), carbon bars (which the Look doesn't have). Similar geometry as well. Yes, Felt is not top tier, but still a respectable brand.

Okay, where do I start? First of all, your first post is "this is not a great deal at all." And then proceed to quote specs that are really only found on clearance deals, on limited selection sizes - if at all. On top of that, this deal is for a 17 lb (or less) LOOK Huez RS and you neither posted a better deal on a LOOK, nor did you provide any comparisons in your initial response.

You're a member of SD for what, almost 15 years... and you only have 169 rep points and have posted 5 deals, yourself! If you know so much about deals, then start posting some! Also, I'm sure you'll downplay your reputation points and tell me how you don't care... but you realize that a lot or rep is earned from not just posting deals, but posting helpful comments... ya know, not being a jerk, "bud." So, you can call me "defensive," in my response, but as I've pointed out, you come into this thread like some Japanese WWII kamikaze with your outlandish claims that like Oprah, online bike store are handing out sub 17 lb Ultegra Di2 12 speeds with all carbon cockpits with $2k carbon wheels for $3k!

So, now, let's move onto you "putting your money where your keyboard is." First of all, that Pinarello *is* a good deal, --but-- as I've pointed out - heavy Fulcrum aluminum wheels, lower end 105 drivetrain, and it's almost 20 pounds!!! The bike I posted should be LESS than 17 lbs. That's not even in the same class, "bud," and it's retail price is $6k... hmmm, who mentioned that price point for Fulcrum wheels and 105... know I heard it somewhere?

Okay, the second deal on the Felt you posted. First of all, that's not a Look Huez RS, but it is carbon fiber, with carbon handlebars, high quality and light Reynolds carbon rims with Ultegra Di2 12 sp, and it looks like the weight may be in the low 16's. Again, it's not a LOOK Huez RS, so different deal, and it's on clearance in a off color that not everyone is going to love, but I will admit --- for those specs, it's an absolute helluva deal. See... unlike you, I don't reflexively trash somebody else's post. You found a comparable bike that was in stock with many sizes avail, and the weight class and component selection is outstanding. It's so good, that I think you should make it your 6th post.

So, to wrap this up - if you don't like a deal, then fine, but you can't come in and say an Omega watch deal for 30% off sucks because you can buy a Swiss made Tissot for 70% less. One watch is an Omega and the other is a Tissot. If you want to trash the Omega deal, then provide a better price on an Omega. Otherwise, you can just say "Omegas are overprice IMO, and although this is a good deal on an Omega, I think this deal on a Tissot is better." See how non-confrontational that was? I mean, if you find an Omega for 50% off, then by all means, trash the 30% off deal... but that's not what happened here. You trashed a deal on a specific bike, and then (only after you were challenged) you offered some comparisons on *different* bike brands (the Pinarello deal not so great, the other Felt deal was very good - but on an off color). So, some future SD etiquette - and please post the Felt deal, I'll give it a thumbs up if you do.

Look use to be Art meets Engineering, but they got sold and now they are just like every other bike. Id say this is average price.
