With the VZW taxes, this seems to work out to about $5,200 over the 36 months, minus the $200 gift card.

Since that Welcome plan is so limited (no hotspot and probably low priority QCI), I just wonder about the value.

Also if I am not mistaken, you also have to pay the sales tax on the full retail value of each phone at the time of ordering. So if your state is 8% sales tax, that is about $65 per phone at the time of ordering. Of course if you live in Oregon or Delaware (on one of the few No Sales Tax States), you won't have that added on.

Just some thoughts, as I did something similar last year with the iPhone 14.

Plus $140 in fees, so your first bill will be almost $300.

You're still paying full price for the phone, so you need to pay tax on the full price. It isn't discounted at all, they are simply giving you a credit of the same amount as the phone payment.

Verizon has a tax and surcharge estimator.

https://www.verizon.com/support/t...estimator/

For my area it's about 16% plus $5 ish in other fees, so would be around $145/mo.

Paying less for more lines on T-Mobile, and the 36 month commitment is a lot. No reason to leave yet.

Also, Verizon requires a checking account ACH for the autopay, so you'd be missing out on cashback and/or insurance that some credit cards offer.

What do you mean? We get exclusive stuff all the time! Last year they gave me a new $12 monthly fee for having an older plan. This year they "updated" the autopay discount. All that without having to lift a finger on our end. 10/10 service.

they just try to tied you down with higher monthly bills, it is hardly a slick deal after all the fee they add on

As you said the welcome plan is priority that low-end prepaid gets so essentially you are paying postpaid prices for prepaid service and when things get congested you will be sucking bits through a straw, so its not like Verizon is giving you free phones you are paying for them in spades and also going to the back of the line for priority. For instance usmobile, total (recently), and visible+ all have better plans AND get priority. You are also getting last year's model which didn't sell well (although I would say the 16 isn't really any real update so YMMV). But go see what Apple TIV is for one and you can gauge. ($430 a phone)

Just because you HOLD a phone doesn't mean you can USE the phone.

Also, is there a monthly price guarantee (monthly & fees & tax) during the 36 months drip payment?
