Yes you have to be a prime member. Other way of doing it is to create your own account and add youself into prime member's household. This way you will have your own separate account even if you move outside primary member's physical address and still have prime membership. That's how I have my account setup with my cousin. We split the membership.

You can also get the Amazon Store Card for an additional 100 credit when there is a credit boost in black friday. I got both Chase Prime and Store Card for 300 total sign up credit 2 years ago during black friday. Bought alot of butt wipes, still have some left.

Yes you get same benefits as primary account holder. Regular 5% cashback and additional 1% for slow delivery. You can even get 7% cashback for slow deliveries during their promotions which is usually during holidays or prime days.

Mine is 800+, I carry zero debt and I was approved with $500 limit. That makes it not practical for me to use.
