I have used these for years... when working 16 hr days and ~4 hrs of sleep a night, where after a few weeks like that, I could sleep through any "normal" alarms. I think they used to be marketed to the hearing impaired, which sounded like just what I needed.

These definitely work, but they don't last long, I probably had to replace mine every 6-12 months.
Also, the vibrator thing isn't easy to locate in a place that isn't uncomfortable while still being close enough to your head to be effective, eg you put it under your pillow, and you can 100% feel that huge hard plastic lump under the pillow.

I ended up getting a thick mattress topper (I had wanted one anyway) and put it under that where my head goes... and that worked, but it isn't nearly as effective as it could be given that my head/torso was effectively insulated from the vibration. Also, sometimes if tossing and turning while sleeping, it would move out of position and it would go from feeling weak to not feeling it at all. Not that I can think of a better solution, that is just the nature of this kind of solution.

Overall it did work pretty well compared to a normal alarm clock, but I ended up replacing it with a more effective (for me) solution. I have a home receiver with floor speakers hooked up to an alarm clock that has an RCA output, and have that set on blast. When that shite goes off I JUMP out of bed.

NOTE: the wife didn't like it, but also understood because of the hours and obvious exhaustion, and enjoyed the roof and food and all of that .

NOTE 2: I also tried the Pavlov shock wristband thing... and it sounded like a good idea, but it was an expensive piece of crap.

here's the amz listing (fakespot = a)
https://www.amazon.com/Sonic-Aler...B000OOWZUK

i had to look at the review pics to see how it works - i gather it plugs into ac, it has a 9v backup battery (just for keeping the time, I assume) and the vibrator is powered from the main unit.

also: unbelievable how more people weren't asking about emf

I have used these also for a long time.. thick mattresses really cancel out the use of this. I found that the better option is putting it between your window and window blinds.. we have wood blinds but any should work.. when it goes off it sounds like a bird is trapped there.. It has always woken me. not gently but awake. I pair this with Alarmy app that makes you do advanced math to silence alarm.

Man, if you can avoid using something like this please try to. I've read that being awoken by piercing sounds and whatnot can take a toll on your heart health in time. The fight or flight response waking you up is not ideal.

It's probably a lot healthier than waking up to the sound of your dog on the verge of throwing up.

Nothing makes you jump out of bed quicker than that.

Hmmm... *thinking of making an alarm clock that sounds like a dog throwing up when it goes off*

Sounds like someone needs to find a new job.
Otherwise, you're not going to live long enough to enjoy retirement.
