I just bought the 3M version of this trainer (next model up with built-in motion plates). Enjoying it so far!

This is a great price for the 2T (essentially the same without the motion plates). For info, there are motion plates available for the 2T for $299 extra - as well as making the experience more realistic, having the bike move around a little helps with fatigue.

KICKR Core is solid for $500. If you're an REI member, the 20% off coupon that they provide several times a year works on it, bringing price down to $400. Below that price range, there's the KICKR SNAP, but that isn't 'direct drive' (you keep your rear wheel installed so the tire rubs against trainer).

I also recommend the core when it's on sale. There should be one around black Friday next month

Definitely find a way to make this deal work over something like a kickr or wahoo, it's a hand over fist better experience. I've used all of them and the 2T is the best by far.

I have a Tacx Flux S I bought lightly used. It has been a good one even though I don't like trainer riding. It has allowed me to ride when conditions are not ideal. Had it going on 8 months.

This is an excellent trainer in terms of perceived road feel and responsiveness. The app has a lot of free options for training. Strongly considering getting the motion plates this winter even though the price of them is ridiculous - which is a testament to how much I like it. Previously had the Saris H3.

Totally agree, I love my 2T! Would also love to add the motion plates at a more reasonable price...

New to biking. I have a cannondale topstone carbon 5 bike. How easy is it to take off the rear wheel and install onto this trainer? I am a complete novice and have never messed with the rear wheel of my current bike. Also, I have friends who are more than casual bikers who told me to buy a cheap bike to put on a trainer and not use my main bike. Any truth to that? Currently using Zwift on a stationery bike in the winter.

Installing the bike on the trainer is as easy as removing/replacing your rear wheel. Make sure you're in the highest gear (smallest cog). Remove rear axle. Remove Rear wheel. Place bike on trainer. Insert rear axle. That's it!

No need to get a cheap bike unless you like the idea of having it set up full time. There's no need to be concerned about additional wear on your bike. So only real advantage of a dedicated set-up is it saves time if alternating between outside cycling and indoor training frequently (plus you don't need to bring your bike in and out of the house). I have a few bikes, so one of them is dedicated to trainer use for this reason.

wow what a price. I have a wahoo kickr core and honestly its doing amazing, but to see this one under 1K is actually impressive.

for those who think they don't need it, all i can say is feeling the road on Zwift is an awesome, but entirely optional feel. I've found myself cycling less outdoors with even a kickr core, but i definitely appreciate the outdoors a lot more as a result.

I have a Trek Emonda SL6 and assuming it's quite easy to mount the bike onto this after removing the rear wheel. I live in the New england area and want to train for a 100 mile bike ride (B2VT if anyone is interested). How important are the motion plates for this use case? If it is just a nice to have rather than must have then I might jump on this deal. Also what's the likelihood of getting a better deal during BF?

I went a different direction and got an echelon spin bike and use a $5 app called QZ to connect it Zwift, MyWhoosh, Rouvy, and Peloton all with automatic resistance and ERG for about $250 and no extra wear and tear on my bikes
