I love the product and the price, but if you jump on this, you need to be on the lookout for fakes. There are so many sketchy 3rd party sellers mixing inventory with Amazon on these things (Mitutoyo calipers and micrometers) and pushing very low prices. It can work out, you just need to be vigilant.

I ended up buying a set from a machinist in a heavy duty wooden box. I think it's from the 90s. Should last me a lifetime, with my very limited use
Echoing the same as others regarding be mindful of fakes. Also fwiw, these do not have vernier scale so the graduations are to thousandths / 0.001" (in case you were needing something with vernier graduations to ten thousandths - 0.0001").
A micrometer is used to measure the size of small objects. For example, measuring a micro pen is a good use case if you are into tiny-scale woodworking. 😜
