my alexa devices get worst over time. no longer worth the investment into their ecosystem.

I followed a suggestion from a reddit forum and they said to turn the language to English (Canadian). Worked for us…haven't had an ad since. We also went through the settings to get rid of all games and routines.

I dont know about you but I am still using first gen alexa and still works great!

Will this one play the spotify title and take over the clock like the echo clock with dot? One annoying thing with the echo clock, when music is playing it shows the artist and title instead of the clock.

I've been disappointed with the Show devices. I thought it would make a good replacement clock radio but most of the time it either doesn't show the time or it is so small, I can't see it. They have their uses, but instead of a device that serves your purposes, it's like you have a device that just wants to do whatever it wants and doesn't care what you want. It's a trojan horse.

My guess is they all do that. Most annoying thing ever. Comcast had my internet shut down for a few hours a couple of days ago. I asked Alexa to turn off the lights. Instead I get a loud message that it is not connected to the internet. Ugh. Sometimes you just want it to shut up.

Juat remeber Amazon axed 90% of the Alexa devices division so you are essentially get less Alexa and more Ads

I asked mine to turn on the garage lights and it responded with an NPS survey. After spending thousands of dollars in the Alexa ecosystem, I'm done. 😢

I did the same. The voice has minimal Canadian accent but is now incredibly kind and enthusiastic. The Alexa lady is now delighted to set my wake up alarm, for example...

It plays Spotify titles. But I have constant issues with the Spotify connection. Very annoying. Ridiculous disappointing product so far.

Not right now, I'm actually trading in my Echo show 5 for another one of these for this exact reason... with this deal it almost comes out to a direct swap, money-wise. I own several of these Spots because I love the design. Its minimal approach doesn't lend itself well to ads and it's nicely minimal in its UI, but Amazon has said they may explore ads in the future. Hopefully it won't be product breaking like before and that all categories will be blockable, otherwise -> out the window these go!
