I've been using a Magic Eraser on the inside to get rid of the film and it works really well. Just apply light pressure on the glass with a slightly damp magic eraser.
The key to not having your windshield fog up is to remove the film build up on it that is causing the fogging (as described in posts above).
A really cheap way to do that is just clean the inside of the glass with a microfiber cloth and rubbing alcohol. That will strip off the layer of film, and also don't have to worry about scratching with a Magic Eraser.
My windshield used to fog up really bad, even after cleaning with Windex and stuff like that. Until someone told me about cleaning it with a bottle of rubbing alcohol. Works fantastic and is really cheap, and most people already have a bottle of rubbing alcohol in the home.
The plastic and vinyl in your car actually off gasses and forms a thin film on the inside of your windshield. This is why it can appear slightly hazy even if you never get it dirty.
If one is stupid enough to tint their front windshield, they deserve it.
Tinting it like 50% sure, but a 20% tint helps take the edge off for my light sensitivity from blue eyes+prk side effects. Yes, I wear sunglasses all day, but the 20% helps at night and doesn't affect visibility.

20% tint on front windshield?????
and drive at night and it doesn't affect visibility? are you a vampire?
my understanding is the pesky film is from vinyl off-gassing - note that you are breathing the gas/particulates into your lungs while in the car. While any mild abrasive can be effective on glass, your windshield is coated on the inside with a thin plastic film for safety. The mild abrasive may damage that protective plastic coating. Windex doesn't work very well. Maybe ammonia or rubbing alcohol.
