This jacket has 800 down fill which is a "premium" fill (higher warmth to weight ratio than average), more insulation = more warmth though, and 600 fill jackets can be warmer. 20 denier outer is on lower end of abrasion resistance, meaning it might puncture more than an average jacket, but is intended to be more lightweight. Most of these technical specs are focused around a jacket that packs small, and is lightweight for amount of warmth. A lot of people just want a good city jacket, so you could probably find something cheaper sturdy and warmer if the technical specs don't matter (at cost of bulkiness and weight). Patagonia also tends to be a well-perceived eco-conscious brand if that matters to you.
Personally, I'm a bit of an Arc'teryx shill because I like the fit and appearance of the jackets are, but they tend to be even more expensive, not cheaper.
