GitS:SAC 1 is a solid 9, animation holds up, good action, real plots, and some existential philosophy. The "fan service" of the main character takes on a different aspect when you realize her shells & attire are strategically chosen for effect. Plus it is effectively an ensemble cast, as at least 4 other characters get episodes focused on them.

SaC2 is ether a 7 or a 9.5 depending on how you feel about the antagonist's character design.

Unless they finally fixed it, there will be some audio issues in some of the episodes where the audio will switch from English too Japanese and back in an episode

one of the best anime series i've watched, and I watched a lot. I've been watching since the early 80s, Tezuka Osamu's Atom, sapphire, leo the lion, cyborg 009 to name a few..

One of the absolute best old school anime series. Up there with Samurai Champloo, Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, FMA:B and many others in animation, story, music (some absolute bangers in the series thanks to Origa and Yoko Kanno) and character depth. The movies are fantastic too. Motoko is my absolute favorite female protagonist of any show.

Example ost song, straight up goosebumps when it plays.

All time great anime show, I usually rewatch seasons 1 and 2 every 2-3 years, still holds up 20+ years later. These days I think season 2 > Season 1 but both are fantastic. Would cop if i had bluray player
