We got switch version for our daughter for Christmas last year. Graphics are definitely on the lower end. Load times aren't too bad. I'd recommend ps5 since there's so many great visuals in there.

Purchase it while you have the Switch with you and no kids around. Once it starts to download on the Switch delete the game from your Switch. You can then re-download it just before Christmas morning.
Here's the google instructions to re-download: From the HOME Menu, open Nintendo eShop with the Nintendo Account that purchased the game. Select the picture of your icon in the upper right corner to access your Account Information. Highlight Redownload on the left side of the screen. A list of titles you've purchased will appear.

I don't know if the graphics are any better. I've never played the game.

Biggest difference on the Switch is that it has to load room to room where the PC/PS5 version feels immersive and seamless as you go from area to area.

Wife bought switch version after beating the Xbox version months ago.

If you have the option of both, buy ps5/xbox but she said the switch version is still super fun/playable and she's enjoying playing it on the switch because it's mobile but for sure it's less immersive and textures are way less impressive.

Been playing this on PS5 and having a blast, love the game so far and combat is surprisingly fun as well.

We only have a switch. Boys are 8 and 9. Is this a decent game on the switch still? And would it be for their age or older?

It's definitely fine for 8 to 9 year olds. I think they will love it. I think someone mentioned it has to load room to room on Switch which might be a consideration.
