It's definitely fine for 8 to 9 year olds. I think they will love it. I think someone mentioned it has to load room to room on Switch which might be a consideration.
Thanks!

Very fun game and well worth the price. I had it on the switch and obviously the graphics took a hit...but still over 50 hours of fun

I just finished playing this on PS4. A lot of load screens. I really wonder why this couldn't have been remedied when you can play Uncharted 4 or Last of Us 2 basically from beginning to end without load screens.

Regarding the game/story, it was pretty fun and they established the world well. But there was still something missing, can't exactly put my finger on it. By the end I was playing just to finish and not because I was really enjoying it as much.

I would love to know this as well! If I buy the digital version it immediately downloads onto the switch.

Damn I have a PS4 too and was going to ask how it was for it. Does it change much if the PS4 is the pro version I wonder? (Currently playing TLoU 2 for the first time and loving it)

Every time you squeeze through tight spaces or climb ladders or other activies, it's just a hidden load screen in those games. Like the doors in Resident Evil and the hallways in the corridors in Symphony of the Night.

Purchase it while you have the Switch with you and no kids around. Once it starts to download on the Switch delete the game from your Switch. You can then re-download it just before Christmas morning.
Here's the google instructions to re-download: From the HOME Menu, open Nintendo eShop with the Nintendo Account that purchased the game. Select the picture of your icon in the upper right corner to access your Account Information. Highlight Redownload on the left side of the screen. A list of titles you've purchased will appear.

It is crazy the devs even got this running on a Switch. Maybe there have been a lot of patches that improved performance, but Id definitely buy this on literally any other device that is capable, if you have the luxury.

I have this game on PS5, PC, and Switch. The Switch version does not look as good as the other two versions obviously. Besides that, it plays great and it's a good way to play on the go. I played it on a roadtrip and had a great time. Before I knew it, the bad graphics didn't bother me as much. The loading for Hogsmead isn't that bad either. The loading in the game is faster than the Lego City Undercover game for the switch

We got switch version for our daughter for Christmas last year. Graphics are definitely on the lower end. Load times aren't too bad. I'd recommend ps5 since there's so many great visuals in there.
Agreed, better on the bigger screen, but there is value in having it portable for kids.
