  • Page Length: 222 pages
  • C.S. Lewis's The Screwtape Letters has entertained and enlightened readers the world over with its sly and ironic portrayal of human life and foibles from the unique vantage point of Screwtape, a highly placed assistant to "Our Father Below." At once wildly comic, deadly serious, and strikingly original, C.S. Lewis gives us the correspondence of the wordly-wise devil to his nephew Wormwood, a novice demon in charge of securing the damnation of an ordinary young man. It's a family favorite. The author presents a lot of spiritual truths tinged with humour. Highly recommend.

Well worth it! There is an audio read by John Cleese that is hilarious and is every bit as relevant today as when it was written and read.
Some may take issue about the christian framing, but I think (for example) even George Carlin would have loved the delicious irony in every word:
"They still connected 'thinking' with 'doing', and were prepared to alter their way of life as the result of a chain of reasoning".

Readers as different as David Foster Wallace and Antonin Scalia loved this book.
It's too bad the orange narcissistic grifter never picked it up.

Great deal, thanks for the heads up OP! This is a must read, especially for people who grew up in a Christian household but never really understood what a personal relationship with Jesus looks like.
