Ace Hardware is a co-op, meaning a bunch of individually-owned stores pool their collective strength together for buying power, and a unified marketing effort. True Value hardware is also a co-op, as is NAPA auto parts, and Best Western lodging. Citrus farmer and dairy producer co-ops are also behind some of the brands seen at the supermarket.
Each store/owner can choose to participate in the promotions. Or not, as well as do their own promotions. My Ace store commonly promotes their own coupons, in addition to the national coupons like these.
Co-ops are collectively owned, and aren't as restrictive as franchises, where the sole franchiser owns the concept, selects their franchisees according to the criteria they solely determine (finances, location/demographics), and has stricter rules the franchisee must follow.
what is a "participating store"? from what i remember, ace hardware stores are franchises right? so any owner can refuse the coupon?
I wish I could give a more definitive answer, but the link at least doesn't seem to be location specific. I think you can only try. It works for me in Oklahoma.
Anyone find anything noteworthy in particular? I may go out and look later.
I have a oil change coming up on my truck. I was going to try and use it for oil however pennzoil platinum happens to be on sale at ace this week I don't think the coupon would apply . I don't see any other full synthetic on there sight oil in a 5 qt jug or reasonably priced . If you use conventional or synthetic blend oil it could be a good coupon.
