Good price if you just care about rasterized performance per dollar value. Never know with these things, but expected drop given next AMD/nvidia generation are incoming as early as January (rumored dates).

TLDR; good purchase for 1440p/4k gaming if you don't care about raytracing

honestly the 8800xt coming out early next year seems to be maybe a better option if able to wait but AMD could mess up the launch

sounds like its going to be a 7900xt-xtx at 16 gb vram level of performance but with a lower price

and if the leaks are true they are delaying the launch into spring in order to try and sell off more 7900 xt's and xtx's so most likely if these sales don't do enough then they will drop lower to clear out stock

im curious if they are actually going to shoot for a 500-600 dollar pricepoint as that is the only way i see them making market share -- 500 would probably guarantee it but they will also need to have some compelling stuff in the 200-250 pricepoint and 300-350 pricepoint
It's 7900xt, no way xtx, because it's $500-600. If they push towards 600, then probably no one's gonna buy it.

8900xt is going to beat 7900xtx, and 8900xtx will be maxed out around 4090 lvl raster easily if not a little more, cuz 4090 raster isn't that high, 4090 raster is only ~25% higher than 7900xtx.

Ray tracing 8800xt is going to be around 4070-4070ti, 8900xtx will be around 4080 lvl ray trace.

Point is though, HODL until they pop. Do not buy any gpu this holiday season. Wait for 8800xt, everything about it is ready to go, they're just artificially holding it.

I got in on this with the $80 credit using AMEX. $708 is a pretty good deal. Im with the guy that says buy at the end of generation and I don't see these getting cheaper than $700 without unicorn deals.

i'll be honest ray tracing is pointless to me... even in games that i have tried with reflections sure cool?? but its so small it seems meh to me / honestly i know in developing the best part of raytracing would be the potential of cutting down a lot of time with baked lighting/reflections but at the moment too many downsides due to performance

unless there is a best kept secret 8900xtx isn't existing just 8800 xt and probably below releasing ... and theoretically based on density its just going to land in the 7900 xt-xtx somewhere it seems but "shrug" personally speaking i think any card that can do 4k 60 and above in raster is pretty much a great card as long as it doesn't cost an arm and a leg for it

Do you honestly see this card going to $550-$650 range in the near future? I have a deal of getting this exact card open box $710 before tax (with a gift card). Is this a great price to snag it at? I just want to have a great GPU for years to come mostly play FPS games at 1440p. It might be even overkill but I do want to grab something with my 7800x3d . Or I could get a used 3080 for like $350-400, or some 7800xt for $400. Maybe even 7900GRE for $475-500ish.
Would it be worth paying $250 more for this type of card longevity wise at 1440p/low-med settings

They're going to announce OFFICIAL msrp price drops soon. So it will be cheaper by BF.

But overall, price drop or not, everyone is HodLing for 8800xt now. And they're expecting 8800XT to be $500, If AMD tries to push it, higher than that, they're going to lose the good will they've built with the community.

Know GPU companies though, they'll screw up the 8800xt and price it $600, and everyone will hate them.

Ray tracing is the future, you're in denial.
