Not a deal. It has been this price for months. I have seen it even lower a couple of times ($85).

I have not been following tablets, but what is the best specs for the price chinese android tablets to use as a measuring stick? Last time I paid attention one was looking for the Helio G99 CPU or better plus 8gb of physical ram (aka not 4+4, but 8+0 or 8+8) such as the ALLDOCUBE iMini 50 pro (there are other models with less ram or slower cpu)

But my knowledge is 1 year out of date so there may be better things out now? I am seeing the device I just mentioned is $150 but prime big deal price for $118 today.

Just trying to figure things out so I would appreciate feedback.

Helio G99 is a mid range CPU but I would look for one with a Qualcomm snapdragon 695 or better CPU. I have the Galaxy A9 plus and it's probably the lowest end chip I would get and look for 4gb ram if you want a smooth experience. Currently 152 for prime day

I would place the G99 at one tier above a SD695... it definitely has better graphics and I really don't care if the SD695 is 3% faster.

Basically you are giving misinformation.

Also, I would say you should look for 8GB of RAM... not 4GB.

Bottom line....

You can get a Lincplus T3 for $110 and it sports....
G99
8GB
128GB
4 speakers
micro SD card
Android 13 (no bloatware)

I have this tablet and nothing comes close at this price range.

Is there any information on if and when this device will go beyond Android 13? It looks like Google will stop providing security updates for Android 13 in about 17 months (March 2026). On top of that, is there any information on Lincplus's cadence for security updates and other patches?

Those are great specs for the price. But plenty of Android devices have turned out poorly due to software issues or short OS update life cycles. And it seems like the trend is for cheap Chinese branded hardware to be released at a great price, but offer poor or non-existent long term support.

EDIT: I'm not trying to argue that the Lenovo tablet in this deal would be better in this area.

I don't see this device going past Android 13 and my last update was about 4 months ago... very surprised that I have gotten a few of them.

But the best part of this tablet is PURE ANDROID (zero bloatware... pure OS), nothing to slow you down.

About Android being venerable... I would personally put more importance on having a good updated browser. You may have a updated OS but if your browser is not updated you are dead in the water.

So, I have this tablet. It is amazing. And for a few bucks more you can get a Android 14 version with similar specs. My FAVORITE tablet is 8.4" "Iplay 50 pro NFE", another CHEAP Android tablet with same specs and Android 13 and for a few bucks more you can get one with Android 14.

It was not too long ago that you were able to order Lenovo Tablets directly from China for 30% less... But there were issues with the OS and updates.

Browser updates are a given, assuming you are on Android 8+. But not patching the OS can lead to plenty of other vulnerabilities. Having vastly different OS levels in your household can also make things frustrating. If you are the one responsible for managing your household's gadgets, the differences can make things a much bigger headache.

Finally, there is always that nagging fear that cheap Chinese devices like this could compromised from the beginning. I know, there's a similar risk with even name-brand hardware and software that we tend to trust. But it is still something to keep in the back of our minds. I got something similar in a GMKtec K3 mini PC. But at least with that I had the easy option of wiping and loading my own fresh OS on it. Assuming there aren't any low-level hardware or BIOS shenanigans going on, that takes care of the low hanging fruit.

I wish that these cheap Android devices were in a similar spot with a few relatively reliable open source OS options. That way a vendor like LincPlus could get by with little the way of software support. Users could put their own supported OS on them. Even better would be if vendors like LincPlus could ship their devices natively with the open source OS. I remember some router vendors did that with DD-WRT in the past.

Rambling aside, for double the cost, it might be worth it to get something like a Samsung tablet. Just for the piece of mind on the software side. But I think your suggestions are correct. Those specs are very competitive at this price point. If you've only got < $150 to spend on a tablet, I can't say that you are better off with a Lenovo or Samsung.

I'm tagging onto this thread hoping you all will help a mom out. I'm looking for tablets for my kids to play Roblox and watch YouTube. That's pretty much all they want to do. Maybe a little subway surfer here and there 🤷🏻 ♀️. The kindle fires they have are TERRIBLY slow but I don't know much about Androids etc. What's a good, safe-ish tablet that I can keep up with for their wants that'll be around $100-120 ?

Can this be purchased for around $80 and sent as a trade-in to Samsung tab and get $300 or so trade-in discount?
