Had this. Returned it for the 60V flexvolt version. Just now powerful enough for my needs. String trimmer is decent enough but steer clear of the edger attachment option. It's utter trash and you can't change the without destroying the casing.

Brushed motor - common complaint prone to overheating. For light duty good price for bundle. $68 cheaper than Home Depot

Sounds like the motor vents get clogged easily which will burn out the motor unless cleaned every time.

I'm already heavily invested in the Dewalt line of tools, have at least 20, so this one is hard. Just so many bad reviews from others stating that they are heavily invested as well. I bought the standalone edger this year after my black and decker plugin caught fire after 11 years. It didn't have great reviews either, mostly about it being underpowered, and all were correct, I was able to use it knowing that, but this is a very different kind of issue here.

Had this a couple years, no issues with power. The string never stays out, or extend by pushing down on it. I constantly have to open it back up and re-feed the string through the holes to continue on. String also breaks pretty often so I end up having to do this often.

Not defending, but this seems to be an issue with almost every whacker I've used that's not commercial

Great deal - have had one since the beginning of summer and use it weekly - I ain't easy on 'em either. As far as the bump 'n' go trimmer head, I always replace those w/ an aftermarket head that uses two short separate pieces of replaceable string. This saves lots of aggravation and cursing of the standard ones that are supplied.

Any chance you could post the link to an example of the alternative trimmer head / string spool?
