The 1tb and 2tb models also have 16gbs of ram compared to the usual 8 with the lower end models.

Thumbs up this is an amazing deal.

For me, it's because the cost-benefit of this particular deal is astounding. The M2 chip, even at two years old now, is still very future-proof (at least another 5-7 years of life, as the 2017 iPad Pro just lost future updates, lasting 7 years), and, at this discount of over half-off compared to retail, it was a total no-brainer. Especially for the most max'd out spec of 12.9", 2 TB storage, 16 GB of RAM, Cellular, and Mini-LED XDR display which is almost on par with the OLED of the M4 models.

At launch, the M2 12.9" 2TB Cellular model retailed for $2,399. Here in this deal it was just $1,039.20; that is a whopping over 56% off of its list price. (You'll be very hard-pressed to find a similarly spec'd M4 13" 2TB Cellular model for anywhere near that.)

Apple still has not come even close to unleashing the full power of its M2 chip on iPads (let alone even the M1 chip from the year before), so at this point, the latest M4 models do not really have a discernable use-advantage over the M2 or even M1. That could change with Apple Intelligence coming out soon, but, the 16 GB of RAM in the 1TB and 2TB models sold here will be able to handle that solidly.

The main drawback is the weight, as the 12.9" M2 is quite heavier than the 13" M4. But I'll mostly use it on a stand or elevated case anyway, so that won't really apply for me.

Glad I could help! Best wishes to your wife and your upcoming little one, congratulations

If anything, it's very much possible that a 1TB/2TB M2 with the upgraded 16 GB RAM will be better at handling things like Apple Intelligence than a 256GB M4 with only 8 GB of RAM.

I can guarantee your friend who bought the M4 didn't get a deal like this, and is partially saying what he's saying just to prop himself up and make him feel better about his own purchase. Value-wise, it's a no-contest here.

What do people use the 16GB RAM with 2TB of storage for? Just curious. It is going to become obsolete in 3-4 years after Apple stop providing update???

You think so?! My buddy just got the IPP M4 model off the Apple Education website for $899 with 256 gb. I'm not sure how that model compares to the one I got. Obviously it's bigger in size and memory but other than that this M4 looks like it's more advanced technology.
He's trolling, obviously. No one would buy it for over $1K since it is outdated, when you can buy a new one almost at that price range.

Umm, they are still supporting iPad Pro 3rd generation that was released in 2018.

Why do you prefer this over purchasing the newest M4 model? Thanks!

13" M4 2TB iPad is $2,299,
13" M4 1TB iPad is $1,899.

12.9" M2 2TB iPad is $999 here.

I'd be buying 13" M4 1TB or 2TB iPads if they were $999.

Damn I didn't think to do any CB deals. Nice one. I did the Discover 5% though which should go through. Ordered around 1:30AM PT. 12.9 / 2TB w/ cellular.

If it still has not entered the shipping process, you can still possibly cancel the order.
Or, call them up and try to tell them to retroactively apply the SAVE20 code.

I guess I should've explained further.. I don't NEED the storage really, it's just a "pushing out a baby" gift so she can put around on it while hanging on maternity leave. It was just the only option available at 6:30 this morning so I pulled the trigger on it because everyone was giving great feedback. I believe she could easily function with the M4 11inch 256GB without using half the storage. I just didn't want to be left in the dust with the technology.. she eventually might do a work from home gig with interior designing but that's down the road.

my buddy bought the m4 and called me an idiot for getting an iPad that's 2 years old already. I'm okay with the iPad I just didn't want to have regrets and wish I had the M4 instead is all. Thank you for your help!
