The 110" track is ~$70, so for $150 you'll have a really decent track saw for ripping plywood. Next step up is Ryobi Cordless ($280 w/ 55" track) then Makita Corded / Milwaukee M18 ($500).. and finally Festool ($700+)

Love my Wen track saw. It's great to have around for ripping down sheet goods. Much safer than trying to rip a whole sheet on a job site table saw.

Can this also rip 2x4s at 45-degree bevels? I think the max cut would be the radius (little over 3"), so it should work for straight 90-degree cuts on 2x4; but I am not sure about beveled cuts. I am trying to see if I should instead wait for a deal on the 7-1/4 inch version of this tool or not.

If anyone wants to go the corded makita route keep an eye out on ebay. Got that and the wen track for $330 total. I got around to using it the other day and it went through 1 inch walnut like butter.

Man, I thought this price was for the saw and track and was about to pull the trigger. On the fence now...

Dang.. I did not realize this too, although OP was very clear about this now that I read it. So this is saving around $20 total if you buy the plunge saw and tracks separately.. Not as slick as I thought.

I bought the 7" one for my deck project and was very happy with it. It's not at the makita level of quality but it certainly worked well for what we did. I bought the 110" powertec track as I've read a few so so reviews on the wen track.

Tempting. I've been getting away with clamps, a level or straight piece of wood, and a circular saw, or table saw.

Certainly does the job but having used this unit for a couple years can say that I need to upgrade for refined woodworking. Possibly my unit but I experience lateral deflection despite a squared blade. Will be moving to either Festool or Milwaukee.

It'll rip them for sure, but there is definitely some flex with it cutting something other than 90*.

I have this saw and the wen tracks. Its good especially for the price. I wish i had spent the extra bucks on the powertec tracks though.
