If you have Amazon Prime, the EGO Power+ CS1401 14" chainsaw is on sale for $170. If you don't have Prime, it is $179, which is the same price Lowes has, but it is not available for shipping from Lowes. This is only $10 more than the last front page deal on this, which was about 2 years ago.

I have been interested in adding a chainsaw to my ego collection because I'm tired of having to split firewood with an axe that is cut way too big when I get it delivered. Anyone recommend a 14" for light duty cutting of firewood? Should I get a bigger size?

I would get this, then upgrade the bar and chain when they go on sale. Looks like they went on sale for $10 a month ago

I just recently hopped on the Ego bandwagon and have been looking for deals. Coming from my 12 year old 40v Black and Decker yard tools, these are phenomenal. I was thinking I'd rather have the 16" bar, but then started thinking, will I really need that. Would just take up more space and likely, for my own case, wouldn't really notice the difference.

pretty good price. i bought the 14" version quite awhile ago and then got the 16" and I haven't used my 14" since (actually bought a second 16"). I'd actually recommend spending a bit more and getting the 16" version with the 5.0mah battery. That extra battery power is very noticeable in the chainsaw.

amazon has it for $250 right now.

but generally speaking, these are great chainsaws. my wife uses the hell out of them as well and she won't touch my gas powered saws.

find a different supplier or get something like a ryobi splitter ...your thought is not a safe task for a chainsaw

I was planning on continuing to use the axe but use a chainsaw to cut really stubborn big pieces that are impossible to split with the axe into smaller more manageable pieces, not using as a primary method of splitting. I would love a Ryobi splitter but they are like $700

Maybe get some splitting wedges? When I read your above statement, I was thinking you wanted to cut logs to make them shorter. I suspect it would be quite a hassle to secure your logs well enough to make this remotely safe. Some wedges and a sledge would have to be safer and easier.

My echo cs352 kiks arse and punches above its weight. Did a muffler mod and retuned, Their is a newer model out now.
That Husky 450 Rancher deal would do some noodling. Just make some superficial cuts on the sides of the rounds then hit it with a maul or axe... Tractor Supply had their 25 ton splitter on sale for $999 two times in the past two months. Maybe a third is coming...

Cancelled it yesterday based off your comments. There is a Ryobi splitter for $300 on Home Depot which better suits my needs.
