So tempting with the price. First time going to Japan with two little kids so any input on this airline? Looks like it's good for only in March going to and from.

The flight was pretty good for the price. Clean plane, no delays. They charge you for everything extra though, including water. But curiously not WiFi.

Flew with ZipAir once - Yes, they charge for everything including water. But prices were quite reasonable ($2 for water, $3 for soda, ~$8 for cup noodles etc.).
No seat back screens, but they have some movies & TV shows that you can watch on your personal device after connecting to their WiFi.
Surprisingly, they offer free WiFi, throughout the flight even over the ocean.

It's $333 one way, not round trip.
That's implied. Has there ever been a sub-$400 RT fare from Tejas to 🇯🇵? If so, it was probably back when there were only 5 Godzilla movies 😂

I've flown them twice. While it's true that they charge you for everything, it's a muchhhh different experience than other similar US budget airline carriers. The customer service is amazing and prices for food/drinks were very cheap (e.g Asahi was less than $2 USD). Japanese airlines (even a budget airline) are on another level.
i kept buying beer onboard. its half of the price compare to the bars in Austin

I'm not sure if this counts but in April 2021 I booked Houston to Tokyo roundtrip for 280 bucks on American Airlines for March 2022. Japan's borders were closed at the time with the hopes that they would be open by then but that didn't happen so it ended up being a flight credit.

this is just the price for the inaugural month of this route. its still decently cheap afterwards($458). children under 6 also get tickets for $169.
i havent personally flown them but from what ive heard theyre really good. make sure to pack light tho as its a budget airline and suitcases will cost extra.

Would recommend Spirit for a world class website.

Note - took us over 13 hours and 4 different planes due to multiple mechanical failures for a nonstop NorCal to SoCal on Spirit earlier this year ... $8 ticket I thought I got a slick deal ...

So a world-class website but not a world-class in flight 😂. Spirit, we never disappoint should be their slogan! And frontier comes next in this

looks like it'll be $950 RT w/ luggage
Which honestly for that price just book whatever airline has the better routing and times. That's basically normal price

It's a great way to start a round-the-world/circumnavigation. JP to Bangkok or Singapore, then a stop in the middle east europe, and bounce around before heading back to the US. I did a similar RTW trip for $1380 a couple years ago; I think with the right dates it's probably close to repeatable if you can find a cheap way back to the states (or leverage some FF/CC points to get an affordable O/W ticket)

A lot of Japanese web design is like this. If you browse around on the ANA website enough, you'll eventually find some menus and pages with similar design language. In short: your concern is not unreasonable, but the interface is not necessarily abnormal in the context of Japan. Smilie
