Honestly it's a pretty meh game, and I love just about every 1st party game Nintendo has put out there over the past 30 years. I find myself pretty bored with this one - I think it was designed for very young kids, or maybe even the Japanese idea of what a video game designed to attract female players would look like. Having a Zelda game where you don't attack and just spawn infinite cute mobs that clumsily fight on your behalf is...a bold choice of some sort. None of the puzzles have been challenging or even that interesting. I'm not a fan and regret paying full price for this.

On top of that, it has serious performance issues for a top down side scroller. Frequent frame rate drops and long screen loading times doesn't feel like a full priced game's worth of effort went into making it.

This game plus the mediocre Mario Party release for the Switch have finally made me stop assuming all Nintendo games are great and instead wait for Metacritic reviews to roll in.
Interesting take. Easily the best modern Zelda game I've played in awhile.
Just makes me wonder if this is $45 or maybe less Black Friday. I am in no rush personally

Whoa, I wonder if this is selling slowly out of the gates? It is hard to get excited about the aging console unfortunately.
Game looks fantastic and the art style is retro so it hardly matters (aside from the frame rate issues) im on the fence about buying it

Wait, there's no combat? Can you explain more in a spoiler free way?

Zelda's whole schtick in this is, rather than fighting like Link does, she learns to copy objects and enemies in her environment. So basically the entire game you're just summoning keese and ropes and lizalfos while you stand still and watch. The monster AI is bad, so you often have to re re re summon closer and closer to what creature you want them to fight. It's not fun lol. The puzzles are very open ended due to all of them relying on summoning random objects like beds and tables and trampolines, so they're inherently really easy 90% of the time.

They somehow managed to make riding a horse not fun in this one too. Easily the most frustrating mechanic

Thanks. Passing on the game. Sounds like the Zelda version of the Princess Peach game.

Just to add to this, every platforming puzzle can be solved by spawning multiple beds. Those same beds heal you, greatly diminishing the need for potions for most of the game. About 90% of the way through, you get an item that causes fairies to spawn extremely frequently in tall grass. So it's a very low-risk game in terms of getting a game over.

There is a mode which Zelda switches to that turns her into Link for traditional combat, but it's restricted behind an energy bar that lasts 20 seconds for most of the game and doesn't run much longer after getting all the upgrades.

That, to me, didn't feel as bad as the late game side quest which gives you a second set of things to spawn by way of a "wind up" mechanic. They seemed like they were meant for bosses, but would break so easily.

Not even close. The princess peach game was a game made for little kids. This Zelda game, while not that difficult, is much harder and I don't think most kids could figure out all of the puzzles and beat all of the bosses in this game.

Might just wait until Black Friday now if they are already lowering the price.
