This is the normal price. None of these are discounted for prime day this time. Last prime day it actually went on sale and you could get the 16gig RAM and 512GB for the same price.

The Ryzen is more of a brute force powerhouse, but the N100 has a better hardware AV1 decoding capability. So if you're thinking of running VMs, the Ryzen might be better. But if you're thinking of running Plex, the N100 might be better.

Passmark score is over 18k, the N100 is only around 5500. So this is way more powerful for only 10W more TDP rating, plus this has the extra drive bays for NAS storage. I'm very tempted to get this.
Edit: Ah, real barebones, no RAM or SSD. Still pretty nice though, that CPU is amazing.

What is the use case for something like this without an operating system?
You can create a better performing NAS

I have the n100 and for a backup or small Nas it will work well. If you want a home lab experience I'd go with the ryzen setup

Would make an excellent Home assistant server with frigate for security cameras.

Curious about this as an HTPC? I could pop my old SSD, drives and ram out of the previous 2012 build running an AMD A8-3850. Of course... that still runs flawlessly so it's probably not needed. Figured I'd ask regardless.

It's a barebones PC that has no storage, RAM or OS. You could certainly buy those components and run an OS that serves the purpose of a NAS, but it's not that out of the box.

It can be a lot of things. One of the intended use cases would be like a DIY 2 bay Synology NAS.

You'd get much more powerful hardware, and a lot more flexibility with how you use the system. But, it would be up to you to choose, install, configure, and support the operating system. Plus, you'd have to pay more than the listed price since you would need to supply RAM and any storage you'd like to use.
