LN1301 is wifi 6, this one is wifi 5. $15 for pack of 2 is very good deal. VLP0102-NP currently sell for $35 in Amazon.

My $15 Linksys has been running for a month straight with stock firmware. No problems.

The MX10600 is 2.2ghz with 1gb ram tri-band:
It has 2 Wifi 5 (2.4ghz and 5ghz 2) and 1 WIFI 6 (5ghz 1) bands

The MX8000 is 1.4 ghz with 1gb ram tri-band:
It has 1 Wifi 5 band (2.4ghz) and 2 wifi 6 (5ghz 1 & 2) bands

The MX10600 is made up of 2 MX5300 nodes.
the MX8000 is made up of 2 MX4000 nodes.

The MX4000 nodes are comparable to the LN130 (AX4200/AX4300) except the MX4000 is 200mbps slower on one of the 5ghz bands. Same specs otherwise other than ram. (LN1301 has 2gb ram instead of one since it was purpose built for a Fortinet security app to be running on it before they scrapped the idea and liquidated them).

The MX10600 would be faster if you use a wired backhaul as it only has 1 wifi 6 5ghz band.

The MX8000 will be faster if you use wireless backhaul only as it has 2 5ghz wifi 6 bands.

I need a device that supports like 100 devices. After all the wifi enabled smart stuff in this house it's made it unstable. Recommendations?
Same exact feelings. My regular wifi has been overun with Echos and smart lights and wifi enabled appliances. I got a pair of the previous units because of the OpenWRT and wanting to separate the the smart devices from my regular network. Just need to find a small VLAN enabled switch to connect my router and pi-hole to.

I think this is the move. Have a separate Wi-Fi router that uses a non-overlapping channel, just to handle bulbs, etc. And you can either VLAN or just put it in a separate IP block and block access to the main network with firewall rules in the router.

I assume I can use Linksys Velop units as for expanding my current Velop Mesh? Yes?

I'm leaning towards the MX10600 to replace my TP-Link Deco W6000 but would love to make sure that's the way to go

Anyone who lives alone or a spouse at a studio or 1 bedroom needs this? If yes, then why?

Never buy a linksys, I have a handful and bad modem and routers still laying around the house. They just slow, outdated and keep disconnecting every once in a while. Netgear, asus, tp-link are far better linksys.

Do these all require an app or cloud to configure? If so can it be disabled?

I am just creeped out by companies handing over customer data to authorities without a warrant and would prefer to keep my network secure.

Can any of these be flashed with OpenWRT? Or dd-WRT?

I ran into an issue with the Linksys LN1301 that were $15 each a few weeks ago. Not sure it's worth it to keep trying if I can get something that currently has official "post-beta" support.

They are practical giving these away.
I can see why Belkin purchased Linksys [networkworld.com]
That was over 10 years ago. Belkin itself was sold to Foxconn 6 years ago. https://www.anandtech.com/show/12...ys-wemo

What issue do you have with its stock firmware?

I have 3 WHW03v1, will these work with that? Same thing? Or is the $65 that much better?

Modern devices have no trouble at all handling the throughput of 100 IoT devices, you're more likely to be running into artificial wlan association limits that may exist on stock firmware (netgear is 32 per band, for example). One of those $15 ln1301 routers with dd-wrt firwmare loaded will happily accomodate all the devices you can throw at it.
