I just signed my daughter up for a year of mint. But her iPhone 8 Plus is getting very old and the charging port doesn't work any more. So I'm seriously considering this.
How does the month/two months work? You just have to own it for two months to get it unlocked? Or you need service for both months to be able to unlock it?
What about the onlock services online, are any of them reputable/actually work? Cause even if they are 20-30 bucks it's still a great price for an iPhone 12.

Only pay for 1 month, no unlock service can unlock this.

No unlock service can unlock it? What makes it unique compared to other iPhone 12's? I'm not beginning to say you are wrong because I barely know anything about unlocking. But since I posted I did some searching and it seems like multiple places unlock straight talk and multiple places that can unlock iphone 12's.
And I meant to say thank you!

go spend your money on those unlocking services and learn the hard
buy the phone with 1 month service, don't pay for the 2nd month
on about the 60th day it should Auto Unlock
there are rare cases that you have to call up and request the unlock

I honestly didn't mean that snarkily, I was wondering what makes them un-unlockable, is there something unique about them? Or are most of the unlock services scams? I don't want to waste my money if it isn't possible.

Look, if you're new, you should ask yourself, would all these old hands in Slickdeals be talking about waiting 60 days for a phone to unlock automatically if there's another cheap/easy way to do it.
Seriously, asking the same question over and over is almost like asking the folks in here if they're stupid.

What these "Unlocking Service" companies are good for (and this about covers it) isn't pertaining to Carrier Unlocking the phone. Yes, they can unlock a phone BUT they can only Passcode Unlock, not unlock it from restrictions from a specific carrier. It's illegal to go around the carrier and do that. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying someone or something can't carrier unlock the phone without the carrier's consent. What I am saying is that it's not legal for a company to unlock it, other than the carrier it's locked to. If you pay for a place or individual to"unlock" a phone, they will only passcode unlock it for you, thus allowing you access into the phone, instead of being locked out of it entirely.

Ah, I didn't realize it's illegal, and the distinction. Really didn't realize there would be much of a passcode unlock need/market if I'm understanding that properly. I think I'm still going to order and then just wait the 60 days. it's quite a bit cheaper than all the other iPhone 12's I see even after considering the month of service, and some reading shows a fair amount of people happy with straight talk refurb iphones.
