Amazon listed "frequently return item". Might want to skip this one.

I bought one at this price before and returned it. It was thin and felt cheap. Didn't even want it for walking dog to park.

I purchased this last time around. This is ONLY good if you are left handed. Otherwise when you have the pack in front of you and go to open it the Zipper is facing the ground and your items fall out. My phone fell out and cracked.

I use a sling for my work or when walking my dogs frequently and this enraged me. I believe this is why there are prices so cheap. They are flawed for most.

I have not bought a single Eddie Bauer item that was good. It all feels cheap. And the stitching always rips.

I see mostly women with sling packs so I think they are made mostly for women. As a 6' 1" guy with broad shoulders these things don't even really fit. I have a Bauer version and an Osprey and don't use either anymore. Sometimes I'll wear a waist pack turned to the side
They are used a lot for fishing by men.

Can I guess your connect indicates this bag is too flimsy to hold its shape while trying to insert things in the bag? Thanks!
I would say so. Very flimsy. And i say so as someone who thinks most Eddie Bauer bags punch above their cost. Not this one.

Their adventurer 2.0 backpack for $50 felt like an absolute steal. I bought several as gifts, and everyone who received it liked it quite a bit.

I also like their non lower end jackets.

Since the strap can switch sides, wouldn't it just be a matter of changing it to make it work?
Obviously that guy would rather have his phone fallen and cracked then do it.

It is almost like they don't want you to draw your favorite small boomstick out of the bag easily.

Surprised. No one has mentioned the pocket in the strap is tiny. I purchased and never once used because no standard size phone can fit in there.

This has been one of my issues finding one of these with a phone pocket. I have an iPhone 15 pro max and haven't found anything that will fit it.

A lot of bags on Amazon have a similar issue with pockets facing the wrong direction (generally down when not fully upright).

I got this bag off Amazon for my last trip and highly recommend it if you want something slimmer/nicer-looking:
https://a.co/d/1rIYRIU

Note, there are other design options on that same page but I'm only talking about the one I linkedโ€ฆ

Cons compared to this Eddie Bauer:
* no drink pocket
* thinner profile so it likely carries less
* strap hook has an opening so you can unhook it when needed but it can happen on its own (I used a safety pin to tighten the strap to the hook)

Pros:
* better pocket placement
* slimmer profile that can still be stuffed a fair amount when needed
* better looking - the materials looked and felt good
* held its shape well
* typically much cheaper
Is this soft material? I believe not. Most of these types of bags are hard shell but with flimsy zippers. ITemu is full of these and may still have good prices on them (Temu lately has gotten expensive). I have this Eddie bag, it is soft like parachute material, lightweight and zippers look sturdy. This is meant to be for quickie carriage with small items like phones and wallets, not a full size bag. And you can put multiple cell phones in it's main compartment. I don't see why you would want any more pockets for cellphones when the whole bag is meant to be minimalistic.

I prefer the packable sling since it fits in it's own pocket and has better pocket options. It's a few bucks more but definitely worth it IMO.

Yes, that is EXACTLY what you do, lol. I am right-handed and use this bag every day. You literally just unclip it from one side of the bottom and switch to the other side. And this bag has been stuffed full, weighed down with God knows what until I finally give in and clean it out and dump months of receipts and other surprises. I love this bag. I've washed it and treated it terribly and it looks brand new.

I keep hair clips and ties, an extra set of keys/fob, change and other things in mine. Very handy. Especially when my hands are full, I just lower my legs a bit and tap it(the strap pocket with my backup keys/fob) against the security receiver to get in my building.
