350w is an assistive motor ..you gotta pedal
I'm 200lbs+ with a similar 36v 350w hub motor. On the flat it can do 20 mph at the top of the battery. By the end of the day it will slow a little. For around town or out to the grocery store etc it's plenty of power.

Read that thread. This Kent bike is cheap and its components are not optimized. I have 350w JackRabbit XG and that moves me around just fine — NO pedals!

The Reddit thread is from a few years back and not the same bike. There is no way to know if it is the same motor just because the specs are similar.

350w should be fine. Especially at sub $300.

I thought the same thing. Its likely they put a limiter update or something physical that cuts of the motor if too much resistance is detected. All ebike manufactureres do this to limit burning out the motor. It is in their best interest to do this. And they are still in business. So likely not as much of an issue anymore.

A quick Reddit search shows that the motor is underpowered and had issues with riders above 160lbs 😞

Yeah, 350w. Tiny. 500w is often considered low power .

This seems like a great entry level e-bike.

Though returns would be a pain and warranty likely too costly beyond the first few days. The return policy specifies these as "finale sale" because it's more than 40% off but doesn't specify what that means. Otherwise you have 10 days to return it unused and in mint condition, you pay shipping + 15% restocking fee, unless it's defective. Warranty seems very vague as well and only talks about the frame having a "limited lifetime" warranty, nothing about the motor, battery or other mechanical parts - any warranty work doesn't cover labor or shipping.

With a rating of up to 1000 charge cycle on the battery, I imagine this bike won't last more than a few years before it becomes junk. I didn't see a replacement battery offered on their site, hopefully there's a compatible aftermarket version available.

I grabbed one anyways, been wanting to try an ebike for a few years and would rather pay $270 to try a bad one then $2k on one I might not ride. They also didn't collect state sales tax.

Edit: the 26" step through version is also available in blue (red is $510) for the same price $299.99 https://kent.bike/products/26-ken...6387751069
