  • There is only one scenario other than an asteroid strike that could end the world as we know it in a matter of hours: nuclear war. And one of the triggers for that war would be a nuclear missile inbound toward the United States.
  • Every generation, a journalist has looked deep into the heart of the nuclear military establishment: the technologies, the safeguards, the plans, and the risks. These investigations are vital to how we understand the world we really live in - where one nuclear missile will beget one in return, and where the choreography of the world's end requires massive decisions made on seconds' notice with information that is only as good as the intelligence we have.

I listened to the Annie Jacobsen podcast interview on Danny Jones. Very compelling information and something we all need to be aware of given the unfortunate small handful of megalomaniacs that desperately try to divert a bright future for humanity. Positivity will get us through, people have far more power than they think they do.

Got this on Audible during my last free trial. Amazing level of research and detail. The content she collected from the acknowledged contribitors/interviewees is nuts. She paints a chillingly realistic scenerio that you will swear came right out of a leaked Government report.
No brainer at this price.
Spoiler alert..... no one wins.

It's a great audiobook but my god it's eye opening and scary as hell to think about if a scenario like she wrote about if ever happens.

Listened to it for free through the library, but it was quite good. Worth the price here.

On topic (sort of), check out the 1984 TV movie "Threads."
It's a bit slow / mundane in the beginning, but I feel that was done on purpose in order to set up the "just another normal day" vibe before completely turning things on their head. Stick with it.

The budget and special effects aren't top shelf (even for the '80s), but they don't really need to be given that spectacle is not the intent.

It's streaming free w/ads on Tubi, but it's better to absorb it without commerical breaks for laundry detergent slotted at intervals between the nightmare scenario the movie presents (if you can find it without the ads).
