You could certainly buy this, but I don't know why you would.
These breathable lightweight insulated shells are typically meant for exerting energy for outdoor activities like rock climbing, snow shoeing, etc. So that when you heat up and/or sweat, the breathable panels will draw moisture and heat away from your body keeping you dry and comfortable.
But if all you need to do is keep warm inside of a cold office, I would think you could just purchase a simple sweater or casual coat.

In my opinion, if you're in an office environment (and not outside in the elements), this jacket will still work for you.

Especially because the breathable fabric on this model is on the -back-. That helps when your back is up against an office chair, preventing you from getting too hot.

In other words, if I was using this for outside in a cold environment, and not doing anything particularly strenuous, then I would choose the regular nano-air. But if you're skinning up a mountain on skis, definitely go for this "light" model, for example.

This piece is more breathable, but less warm. The comparable Patagonia piece to the Atom LT would be the Nano Air.
This (Nano Air Light) is more comparable to the Atom SL.

Is this the same as the nano air that's really good for exercising in? The one that doesn't get too hot.

Yes, this is even -better- for that because it is the "light" model, which means it has more breathable fabric on the sides and back.

I personally much prefer it to the regular nano-air, because I run hot -all- the time.

This model is amazing.

Being more 'breathable' means someone that runs cold should probably stay away from this?

Always cold in the office and looking for something to keep me warm

Over the years I've lost a bunch of weight and am looking to refresh my base layers for backpacking. Light weight and layer able is key. Can anyone lend insight on how this fires for that environment? Mostly fall spring and summer trips not much winter backpacking

How does these compare to something like the Arcteryx Atom LT? Looks the same (lightweight, warm hoodie) but I have never had a Patagonia piece.

This is what I'd like a comparison against as well.

Isn't this cheaper from Patagonia directly?

It is more of an active insulation piece instead of static (sitting around at camp at the end of the day). It doesn't have a chest pocket, which is a bit of a bummer. Ultimately, I think its philosophy is more about not overheating than it is about warmth. More like doing something very strenuous in cold weather. Whereas backpacking in spring / fall to me is more about moderate strenuous output in moderate cold temps. I think this would be too warm while moving and not warm enough while stopped for camp and the temps drop at night.
