You always have to double check what the actual warranty on a Flex power tool is from Flex directly. Lowes website labels almost all of them all as having a Lifetime warranty which is false. If you don't register your Flex Tool within 30 days you may miss out entirely or get a shorter warranty period. Also you need to retain a copy of your receipt (I say copy because chances are you won't be able to read the original printed with disappearing thermal ink after a couple years.) Similar to the hoops you jump through with Ridgid's Lifetime Service agreement.

Flex was an old trusted German brand. Since 2013 they have been owned by the Chinese tool manufacturer Chervon, Flex has been making most of the Kobalt branded power tools sold at Lowes for years and other elements of Chervon have been making most of the Kobalt hand tools. They also make the SKIL branded power tools & EGO branded battery powered lawn tools.

Bummer that Flex is going this route. Competition is good for all consumers.

Going what route? Flex isn't going away. Various model cordless tools get clearanced all the time. Lowe's has had Metabo HPT tools on clearance off and on for several years. They still carry Metabo. They will still carry Flex.

Flex isn't exclusive to Lowe's anymore either, which is good. Amazon sells flex as well as Acme tools.

You have to find deals on their batteries. I bought 2 hammer drills that came with both a 2.5 and 5 ah battery each for $80, 3 circular saws that each came with 10ah batteries for $150, sold two of the saws for $150 each, bought batteries that came with free tools..... Have too many batteries to keep track of now

Yep, thats how I get batteries for any brand...just wait for a good deal on combos and eventually you have too many batteries. I could never justify buying a battery alone unless its a heck of a slickdeal.
