I don't trust any of these anymore after getting some bad units. Now I just "buy once, cry once" and get ThermoWorks Thermapens instead, which comes with calibration certificate.

What is the difference between this and their instant read? Wouldn't instant read be more expensive? It's the same price not on sale

Edit they both say instant read couldn't read through the long title

I'm confused. Is this not an instant read thermometer? It says so in the title of the item.

It says 4 seconds, is this considered "instant read"?

Alpha grillers has very similar for cheaper with the same coupon says 2 seconds no idea what's better lol. Are all of these the same internals with rebadged exteriors? Some reviews said these were both actually 12 seconds for accurate reading

It actually works pretty good. I got it free when I bought this one last month, and it is ALMOST instant read.

How long does it take to get a full reading

I agree with the speed but I have issues with accuracy. If I trust the thermometer my meat is usually more done than the read would suggest. With the holidays close, I'd wait for a Thermopen Pop sale.

I bought this months ago, I use it a lot and it has been good. No complaints and for $10 is worth picking up.

I bought this a while ago. It worked well as designed, as a thermometer.

I like the magnet on the back. This thing stays on the side of my fridge. It's bright orange and I have no excuse not to use it

Yeah, 4-5 seconds is typical for these lower end instant-read thermometers. From what I've read and been told, ThermoPro is essentially knockoff ThermoWorks products, which are the high end ones that have actual <1 second readings.

I have some weirdly named off-brand thermometer that reads in about 2-3 seconds. I've never used ThermoPro products myself.

Guess this is a sidegrade/same model as my current Chinese knock off one, pretty scummy they say instant read, really not instant read if it is wildly inaccurate the first 5 seconds, guess I'm buying one of the $100 tier ones when they are on sale

Funnily enough, ThermoWorks has a sale for their ThermaPen One for 30% off right now. Still much more expensive than this, but much higher quality.

They also have ThermaPops that read around 2-3 seconds for $35 each.

I bought this after years of grilling and guessing. It works great and reads an accurate temperature in about 3-4 seconds. My only gripe is the temperature chart on the back is pretty small to read.
