12 awg is fine for 20 amps in most cases. This is rated for 15 amps because of the NEMA 5-15 terminations on the ends. Most houses have 15 amp receptacles, which the 20 amp plugs would not fit into.

Even the 10 gauge cords are rated at 15 amps when they have the same terminations.

Looks like you need to go to 10 Gauge for 20 amps with 20 amp plugs/ receptacles.

But great price!

12 GA as far as i know is rated 20 amps up to atleast 100ft I believe

Get this one. I bought the 100' and it's a pain to carry. It's bulky and heavy. I think 50' would be a lot more manageable.

50' of 12awg copper at 20A and 120vAC is barely 3% voltage drop, well within the functional range of any appliance or tool. NEC allows for up to 5% drop at the outlet itself.

This cord is only rated at 15A per Southwire.
