Just FYI - for low noise, you will have better luck with a case with lots of ventilation and airflow than something that is closed off with sound dampening. It sounds counter-intuitive but it's true. These kinds of silent sealed-off cases with limited airflow were popular a while ago, but things have changed. The idea is if you can have airflow with the fans running at the lowest settings possible, that will create the least noise and vibration.

That's the Air version. This is the silent version and would stay away from unless running low thermal components.

No. Air version: Comes with three of our 120 mm Aspect 12 RGB (Pop Air RGB TG) fans (and supports two more for a total of five)

I double checked the FD website instead of just the amazon site: https://www.fractal-design.com/pr...-tg-clear/

Seems to also say it has, and I quote: "three 120 mm Aspect 12 fans pre-installed, featuring Trip Wire technology and rifle bearings for enhanced blade efficiency and reliable cooling performance."

It may be true in most cases that do not have x090 card and HDD.

There are cases where you need to use x090 display card or 3.5 HDD, and you are sensitive to those noises. Then sealed off cases have their use cases...

Yeaa back when I was searching for a silent case, that seems to be the thing everyone was regurgitating.. "Don't get sound dampening cases. More air flow case = less rpm from fans = more quiet."

But then no one ever mentions getting a silent psu since out of all the fans that thing probably makes the most noise.

Lol maybe one day a company will make an all silicone pc case.. The ultimate sound dampening dust magnet ha

Still using a Fractal R5 after 10+ years and feel like it's the best of both worlds. Sound dampening everywhere and the two stock fans in front move enough air to keep temps in check on medium setting

fwiw i have a define C for years.

matx footprint but full atx mobo. wind tunnel, means direct air to components... I'm a fan of negative pressure, meaning more intake, than outtake, meaning no dust wants to get in the case since air is trying to leak out. filter the intakes and you have less dust management than cases with too much exhaust.

anyways, it makes sense, you want bigger fans, less rpm for less base noise. but there is a reason to not get something with tons of holes /etc if you want to do positive pressure for dust management. you can just have filters over everything and that kind of mitigates my concern (lazy)

Had my r5 for 9years lol. Gonna miss it.. Now I built it in a Meshify 2 and even though I don't need it, I miss the 2 fans at the bottom. Was only able to fit one 140mm fan with the hdd caddy + 1000w psu.

Tests from various sites do have the Pop line of Fractal cases actually be on the quiet end of things... but it comes at the cost that the Pop cases also run somewhere in the neighborhood of 10-20 degrees C warmer. You are right in that they aren't particularly good performers for 'noise normalized temperature' - much larger, airflow optimized cases like Fractal Torrent or the new reigning king Antex Flux Pro do that.

Is there a sub $100 path for this suggested approach?

What's so special about this case? No tempered glass side, no rgb fans. A simple search in in newegg I can find a case for $15 less with tempered glass and 4 rgb fans.
