I have one of these things. Let me tell you, it is comically niche, but it works amazingly well and I absolutely love every chance I have to break it out. I lean into the ridiculousness of it with extreme enthusiasm about how excellent this product is and it always makes everyone laugh. But it really does toast a great hot dog and bun (if you're into that). It cooks the dogs like they were grilled but at a fraction of the time and indoors at 2AM after a 4-hour shift at the bar stool. I like bun length dogs. I usually toast them one way, then turn them upside down and toast them a second time. If you don't use bun length, the fat ones tend to plump up and get stuck in the wiener holder.
I endorse this product and $20 is a great price for your cabinet space.

I owned one of these in the past.
Unfortunately, they perform poorly, often burning the hot dogs and buns, resulting in an unpleasant mess. They are not worth the investment at any price, unless intended solely as a decorative item in your home.

No, the 1/4 lb Kirkland Dinner Franks will not fit. Not all the way at least. And that makes for an unhappy dog.

I've had two of these, they're annoying to clean but tbh they're the best way to cook hot dogs I've found so far. I recommend using a fork or something to flip the dogs over partway through.

Did you know that according to some nutritionists, eating a hot dog takes 30 minutes off your life?

Would make for a cool gadget. Pop the hot dog in, wait for the *ding* - 30 minutes down!
30 minutes off the end of my life... I don't think I'd notice or care (unless it was torture to death)

30minute equivalent in decrease in QUALITY of life, I do care.

I see these, (not this brand), at Goodwill all the time. Tells me it's useless appliance that nobody wants to keep.

I've just used the air fryer. Set it for 8 min. Toast the buns for 1-1.5 min and then the hot dogs/sausages for the rest of the time.

Crock pots are the most overrated kitchen appliances ever. Maybe even more overrated than this electric nitrate dispenser. Change my mind.
In my household we have three slow cookers and use one regularly to feed my family of four. It's an easier, more hands-off way to cook more flavorful and tender meals than we could otherwise achieve.
When we host family and friends, all three get used and we can easily feed dozens of guests with minimal fuss and simple cleanup.
Recently we had a potluck dinner at my workplace, and while everyone else brought in a slow cooker, I had to run home to retrieve a 9x13" pan to share with everyone because of course we don't have oven space for everyone to cook their own dishes. In retrospect, everyone else was smarter to just bring in a nice, portable Crock Pot that could be plugged into the various standard electrical outlets around the place.
When not in use, my family's three slow cookers just sit conveniently tucked away in a cupboard. When needed, we just bring 'em out, throw a bunch of ingredients in there, and come back some hours later to a simple, delicious, hot meal. I don't think they're overrated.
