just did my third line no issues

do these have to be opened or can they be activated via email and just expire when plan doesnt renew
Depends on what you want. If keep shelf 1 year, then need to open and set up and turn off before shelving.

If trade in, then doesn't matter.

Lol I don't think a sealed phone will increase trade in value, I think op is asking if he can keep it sealed and resell.

it is not about money nor line - you are on prepaid so will not get charged anyways as long as autopay is off.

If you are going to use the phone and want it to be unlocked, then you don't want to catch yourself in 1 year wait time with a locked phone. Online activation only activates the sim part, but sim is in no way connected to the phone while in box. It is a good practice to have the phone be tracked on metro towers and give 1 call and then safely shelf to wait for unlock.

If you trade in, then obviously might not care about unlock and thus don't need to open.

if you are reselling, then need to make sure to delete the esim by opening the box anyways. Orherwise phone is yours and the esim is preloaded in a sealed box phone, so new owner would not be able to register the imei to their metro account. It was discussed in the previous pages where smn gave a ton of bulletpoints as to the reselling part.

Who is your primary carrier? Depending on your plan you can get $800-1000 off this iPhone 12 and get bill credits for 24-36 months. I think Costco changed their promos recently. Otherwise, upgrading at Costco was offsetting this trade-in phone purchase cost and some of the tax on the new phone.

I am with T-Mobile and have two of these. Expect to hold its value at least for the next couple of quarters. Hoping to trade one in during Thanksgiving if any good deals show up. Waiting for some discounts on 15 Pro / Pro Max with higher storage when they clear it out.

I wonder if TMO accepts metro phones as a trade in?

Yeah but that is called fraud, because when you are selling a sealed phone it is assumed that the warranty has not started, once you activate the phone the one year warranty time starts.

AT&T is my carrier. They dropped the valuation down and it's only 350 in credits

Basically no, I called 15 stores around me, only one store was willing to do first month + sales tax on full price of phone, rest of them wanted $180-$240

Tried to get Account number & number transfer pin from US Mobile to port out a second number and CS chat directed me to the following

US Mobile Acceptable Use Terms

New numbers created as part of our Free Trial are not eligible for porting out until after a plan has been purchased for that line. We also do not allow the activation of lines for the purpose of abusing other carrier's port incentives. This is an abuse of our flexible plan offering to take advantage of our industry peers. Additionally, we will alert the other carriers of these actions such that they may take the appropriate measures.

US Mobile are bunch of snitchy b*st*rds!!
