Discount includes a free pro-rated road hazard warranty with no time limit. Sam's Club's is 4 years. Costco's is 5 years, and people online have said they've refused because the tire was patched at another store.
For a replacement with any of them, you'll have to pay the difference in this sale price and whatever the cost of the tire is when you need the replacement.
Discount has an optional road hazard certificate that you can purchase which gives you a free replacement tire rather than a pro-rated credit. Officially it's only valid for 3 years but they've never enforced that for me and I've never seen anyone online who had it enforced.
If you have AWD, you have to replace all 4 tires because they all have to be very similar in tread depth, or get your single new tire shaved down to match (you can do this through Tire Rack if you call them).
Officially these certificates only cover the damaged tire but there are reports from employees and customers online that Discount actually gave them a pro-rated credit for the 3 good tires in addition to replacing the damaged one for free. If that's the case when you need it, then that's a huge advantage and I wouldn't buy tires anywhere else for an AWD car.
Discount is known for great customer service and doing things for free or discounted, which has been my experience at all but 1 location.
Costco and Sam's club often have to wait a while for your tires to be shipped to them. Which is a problem if you have a damaged tire and can't drive.
Discount has a large inventory and have even gotten tires from other locations within several hours for me.
1. She sent a order quote to me so I can finish the order online and pay online. I can use the CB site and also use paypal to pay (5% from Chase right now)
2. The order quote is valid for a month, so I don't have to finish it right now. I can wait till the Thanksgiving to see whether there's a better offer.
3. My tire is at about 4/32", so I'm not urgent. I plan to place the order close to the end of November and set the appointment as far as possible.
Only disadvantage I can think of, the final price still includes the installation fee. It just lower the tire price to match the Sam's final price. It means later if I plan to use the warranty, the pro-rate value would be lower.
Also, if you renewed* your membership using discounted price such as groupon, your tire warranty will be expired as it doesnt have the same membership number. So, Fck Sams Club tire deal, it's a TRAP for you to keep membership.

In other words, I usually don't renew it every year and get a new membership after it expires. So when I go for tire rotation, I may have a new membership account number. Will they cover rotation for free?
