however, there was nothing wrong with zipair in terms of service, cleanliness and timeliness. the japanese hospitality is pretty superb.

I've been traveling to Japan since 2012 multiple times each year with all airlines and in each class. Even in economy, you were always given 2 free checked bags at 25kg each.
My most recent flight was this January-Feb with United/ANA and it was still 2 free checked bags.
edit: Just learned they changed it in September. They also don't let you select seats anymore for economy. That's unfortunate.
