If it's helpful for anyone here is an independent review of this specific TV series

tldr: very good TV that punches above its weight class with the one drawback of having a limited viewing angle for perfect colors so consider your room layout before putting down 2K on a TV.

https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/hisense/u8-u8n

Personal note: as I sit directly in front of it for all of the seats in the theater room this TV would be a no-brainer if my current projector failed, I'd prefer a 2024 U8N but they STILL aren't available as 100" so no idea what their sale prices will be...

For those reading this be aware U8 is one class higher than U7 mentioned in the deal.

For a TV as big as 100" , which should cover a large section of the wall for most folks , doubt if viewing angle matters as much as smaller sizes.

If you buy now and get the free installation they add automatically, will they refuse to price match?

I've had the 100" U8 for close to a year now wym not available? Or do you mean not available through Costco.

Would love some expert opinion... Thoughts on This 100" at 2k + mounting etc, versus home theater with projector (epson 5050ub) and 120" projection screen?

TVs will almost always win out. Projectors are great if the environment is absolutely ideal (super dark room, flat high quality screen, focused, etc.). So unless your room can be blacked out like a theater room and spend a bunch on a nice screen and setup go for the TV if you have the space.

Best Buy will almost assuredly have this price soon as they have before and they include mounting as well - with a tv of this size you definitely need someone else to do it or have a couple extra sets of hands (though you miss out on the extra warranty from costco)

Wife tells me 86" TV too big... Maybe I should pitch this TV at her, then she will realize how small the 86" is...

They are usually good on the price matching. This is a good question though. What would make you think they wouldn't match it because of the free installation?

If you don't already have OLED go with this. You won't know what you're missing out on and your family and friends will appreciate the 100 inch more than the inky OLED darks

not sure about costco, but In the past when I've tried to price match deals, other stores (Bestbuy, Target) reduced the price match refund by the retail amount of the add ons, freebies. Sometime they even show a lower price on the receipt for the main item and itemize the extras (like getting a free controller or game when you buy a console).
