Super tempted, but a lot of recent reviews mention the lid breaking, even on the replacements.

Yep, loved it while it worked. But the lids always crap out.

I'm guessing you don't get the 2 year warranty shown on the image since it says 90 day woot warranty.

Our auto can is 21 years old and starting to have issues, but certainly don't need something that tends to break easily.

I own several of these. Lids have been very durable. This is a great price. It's normally at least double this price. In for two more. FYI - I use rechargeable D batteries.

13 gal bags will not fit. I use Kirkland 18 gal compactor bags. You must stretch those to get them to fit.

I have two of these and they both work great. I use their 21 gallon garbage bags that are alright but have had zero issues with both. I have two little ones that like to slam it shut, even though I told them they don't have to lol, and it still works. Maybe I just got lucky.

We have been using this same exact model for 12 years. Using Costco liners in them. Yes, the lid will stop working after a few years. We like the capacity, aestheics and convenience. The OEM replacement lid unit cost like $30-35 + shipping. Great price just to have extra lid units on hand. Note, our old unit which was bought from Costco 12 years ago used 4 D batteries, the new version used 3 D batteries, but the lid units are interchangeable, 3D batteries last 6 months.

People kept complaining about the lid, size being 21 gallons and not 18/13...yet the product is OOS....

Ok, yeah no buy since Costco doesn't sell 21 gallon bags. And that is a lot to trash to pile up and gets heavy
