When you've been stealing IP for the last 30+ years, it's not hard to make 'advances' without having to invest the time and money the actual companies (American and otherwise) doing the actual innovating.

These were great during the distance learning days of covid. Instead of using a finger or printing it out and doing math homework and scanning it back in. The kids cut their homework time down a lot by using one of these. We have the one by Wacom. I think things have changed and these work with chromebooks. I'm looking at getting one for work.

Got to love competition especially from China, you can get different brands (Huion or XPPEN) for half the price, but Wacom is still the industry standard so it can command a bit of price premium. In the last two years the prices on the live displays has actually went up a decent amount, because you could get the smaller live displays for under $100 when on sale, but now they all seem to be around the $200 price point.

Exactly. People here have no idea how developed these consumer electronics are in China. 5 years ahead of anywhere else in the world.
Sadly, the Chinese made products that I see here in the U.S. are the lowest quality Chinese products I have ever seen. They literally are those things that I use 20 years ago in China when it is still a poor country with 1/100 income of the U.S. Probably there are language, culture and marketing barriers that seriously limited a lot of great quality Chinese products from getting into the U.S. customers. Look at DJI. It's already the best in the market and greatest quality and a big name, but the marketing is just not there - literally not much difference from a typical Chinese company who sell toys and laptops.

Yep, people still instantly associate China with junk that will break quickly, when in reality they have vastly outpaced the USA in many sectors including technology. Quick example electric cars, Ford CEO was scared to death how advanced and far ahead the Chinese cars and how little they cost, quickly seeing that Ford could never compete with them if they were not protected by tariffs.

For those who are new to this kind of drawing tablet, there is a learning curve to get used to it. You will be drawing on the tablet on the table while the movement occurs on the screen, so it's kind of detached. It sounds like touch panel of a tablet, but given you will be using a "pen" in this case, it might be a bit weird at first, but you will get used to it.

Huion and XP-pen offer cheaper alternatives at the cost if responsiveness and user experience. Better to try and decide which ones suits you.

I own Cintiq and Intuos from Wacom, and my kids always prefer to use Cintiq as you can draw directly on the screen, which is more intuitive. If you find Intuos is difficult to use, maybe consider Cintiq or Huion/XP-pen alternatives instead.

Wacom is pricy. Glad to see discount posted here.

Have you been to China? American propaganda still exists as does Chinese propaganda. Look for yourself, they have plenty of tech we don't have yet. Their population is also 5x ours, crying about IP and pretending Chinese innovation doesn't exist is not going to prepare you for the future. I'm not saying IP laws should not be honored, just don't make the mistake of thinking that only Americans can innovate.

You are aware our country did this very thing to the British for a long time, right? The underdog countries always steal and cheat.

I ended up with a heavily discounted Cintiq through one of the prior Intuous deals due to the same thing you state: being able to write on am extended display is huge.
