This V4 version requires the subscription for even basic functionality. Buying & using these allows Wyze to indefinitely keep their fingers in your wallet!

Oh it is not like the V3 where you can get an SD card and record locally?

I haven't looked into the V4s yet but was thinking about upgrading my V3s at some point

"Without a subscription you can still record clips to an onboard microSD card (provide your own, in capacities up to 512GB), but note that the longstanding 12-second recording limit and five-minute cooldown restrictions haven't changed."

That's the same as the V3 so what is your issue with it?

Wonder how this deal works if you I already have the unlimited subscription? Does it tack on another year to my subscription?

No. My experience is you can't redeem the unlimited subscription until whatever you have for a paid subscription ends. Below are my comments from when this deal was active a week or so ago:

I just wanted to comment that this came back at $59.xx for a few hours yesterday so it may be worth occasionally checking.

I bought two, one set of black and one set of white v4 cameras and instantly got emails to redeem both annual unlimited memberships.

Through my phone I was not able to apply either membership, I kept getting membership errors regardless of using the Amazon app or web browser. The Amazon reps weren't able to help and their only solution was to offer a refund which I turned down because I'd much rather have the $3x.xx prorated annual membership.

Come to find out you have to do the redemption via a computer (this was my experience at least and it's echoed by others in the Amazon reviews). You also have to do this through your Amazon account under the membership and subscription section. You can either create a new account or apply it to an existing Wyze account by entering the email address associated with your Wyze account.

I am not currently a cam unlimited subscriber, so I redeemed the first annual membership and it immediately applied it (confirmed via Wyze app). My membership status shows valid 10/11/24-10/11/25. You can't get any details on the Wyze app and must monitor it through Amazon.

I was not able to add the second annual subscription. Meaning Wyze will not let you stack subscriptions. You also opt into auto renew at $99/year.

I'm guessing I could wait for the first year to end and then renew the second subscription but I may just sell it to a family member.

This makes me think people with current subscriptions may not be able to redeem these memberships without either cancelling the current subscription or waiting for it to expire

Amazon prorated the cost of the cameras as a function of the cost of the subscription. Still a much better deal to buy at Amazon and cancel (not redeem)the subscription and ask for a refund.

However this $60 price doesn't last long and typically reverts back to $160 shortly after being posted

One of my orders prorated to $38.xx for the subscription and $24.xx for the cameras (including tax). I was having problems redeeming the membership and Amazon was going to refund if I requested --- turns out you have to redeem using a PC browser (see post above)

nice, thank you for the info
i might still go with costco with the 6 months membership and if the cam stopped working randomly i can get a refund from costco down the road, planning to put it outdoors

Both are really good options. I always pay with a credit card that has an extended warranty on it so these cameras have an automatic 2 year warranty for me regardless of purchase location. It also protects against Wyze being sketchy and not denying a warranty claim because then I can just take it up with my credit card.

Reliability: I've personally never had issues with V3 cams in 2 years of direct Arizona sunlight reaching temps up to 115f this year. I've had another v4 outdoors for 4 months so far with no problems so far.

Best of luck!
