That's really not true. They're getting closer to BluRay, but still not there. It would be way too expensive. Even the 4K is encoded with artifacts and dark scenes are no comparison.

I picked up The Others 4k on the last sale(B&N).
It's a 1:1 transfer with the added object based soundtrack.
It's a really good transfer especially on the AQ side!

It depends on the quality of content but often BR disc picture upscaled is comparable to 4k streaming.

On the audio side there is no comparison, streaming is significantly inferior.
