I have the DXP4800 Plus. I wish I had waited for this price plus cashback, but...

This NAS is awesome compared to Synology or Qnap IF you want to use a different OS like UnRAID.

I have UnRAID running on this powering multiple Docker containers with no issues.

It's a beast if you add more memory, swap the fan, and add NVME cache.

Server in a box, basically. Can run multiple Plex transcodes with a bit of setup.

What is JD? Is it a local brick and mortar?

I wouldn't touch any China-made NAS with a 10 foot pole. ASUS, Synology, and QNAP are Taiwanese and are safe.

UGreen and Terramaster are Chinese companies that literally, by law, have to do whatever the Communist Party tells them to do.

"But I can install my own software" you say. Yeah but what about the firmware/microcode? I value my privacy and data too much to risk it for the sake of saving $20 or whatever over Syno, and if you want to install your own software you could just build the entire NAS yourself and install UnRAID or FreeNAS or XigmaNAS or whatever.

This isn't cheap. You'd be much safer spending the same money on a Synology.
Synology turns into a dud in 10 years. No support, no upgrades, no new apps. Can not flash it with anything different. This will last much longer. And lot more power\flexibility

Pretending that the US government would never do anything nefarious with your data is humorous.

10 years is a long commitment from any company. You think UGreen will be answering your support calls next week, nevermind 10 years from now? Also, it's not like it will become a brick in 10 years - it will still function as a NAS. Paying $600 for anything Ugreen is, frankly, the stuff of nightmares.

I bought a Ugreen NAS this summer at Taobao (Chinese Aliexpless), and the built-in OS is... trash-level... so I have to flash it with Synology os(yes, they allow you to do it). So, what's the point of spending this much when you can get a Synology directly?

I dont need their support. I need ability to flush it with some other NAS software that is in support and is updated for security vulnerabilities. Synology does not provide that. Everyone else does.
