Not the cheapest. There are generic Chinese sets like the Amazon Basics that are cheaper and don't have a lifetime warranty and can't be returned after 1 month. And there are smaller 1-ratchet sets that don't have as wide a range, including some from Husky.
Not the best. You can pay more for a brand like Stanley, Milwaukee, or Crescent, and get 90-tooth ratchets with a 4-degree arc swing that will handle higher torque.
Not the most comprehensive. There are 3-ratchet sets with 200+ pieces including things this doesn't have like combination wrenches and long socket extensions and spark plug sockets.
But I picked this set months ago and was waiting for the sale. If you are a homeowner with a closet, not a mechanics shop, I do think this set IS the sweet spot of all those things: great value at $50, good quality 6-point sockets, a handy bit driver, lifetime warranty, and all that a household needs in a well-designed case that doesn't weigh 40 pounds or take up your whole closet.
Note that Kobalt (Lowes) has sets that are generally similar in price to Husky, and they'll all go on sale next month. I would rather do business with Lowes than HD, and the Kobalt ratchets may be slightly better, but they don't have a set quite like this one and the Kobalt cases have a bad reputation. Kobalt sets have the 2-sided molded plastic case where every piece snaps into place. You open the lid and some pieces fall out, and some sockets are stuck in place so well that you need to use one of the tools to pry it out. That's one reason I like this Husky set. You open the lid and everything's just resting in its place on one side.

Looking for a set of sockets for home use but dont have any rush to get them. Is this basically the cheapest/best/comprehensive set?

And, in my opinion & when applicable, get their Doyle brand as it's lifetime warranty & danged good quality for the money, especially when using the 20 & 30% coupons of which there have been a lot lately, and perhaps likely to continue through the season. Repped, OP.

I bought this set a few days ago and it arrived yesterday. Already used it to install a ceiling rack. I'm happy with this set. As a homeowner this fits the bill for a good set that has everything you might generally need without going overboard.
As another person mentioned, the biggest advantage of this set is that it has the pieces only on one side and so the lid keeps everything in place. I have a larger Hyper Tough set which has pieces on both sides. The biggest problem with that is every time you pick it up all the pieces inside get jumbled and then it's a pain to organize everything again. Things fall out and over time you lose pieces. Even though I had that previous set, and it was working fine, I picked this up precisely because I got sick of playing ''match the slot'.
Another thing I like about this Husky set is that it has two ratchet sizes, which is preferable to having just one with an adapter.
The one thing I do NOT like about this set is that I wish they had a dedicated adapter to attach screwdriver bits to the small ratchet. You can do it with one of the 1/4" hex bits, but you can tell that bit is meant for bolts rather than screwdriver bits, because screwdriver bits don't stay in, and keep falling out. This set already has screwdriver bits and a screwdriver. A magnetic adapter to use the bits with a ratchet would have been perfect.

Nice review and comparison.
Had to chime in on the Lowe's vs HD comment. I on the other hand will virtually NEVER shop at Lowe's again.
They treated me like crap. Purchased online a product and a completely different product was shipped. Came in 3 days after return window didn't think would be a big deal since it was their fault. They refused to refund or even give store credit. Never had HD do that; they always at least give store credit.
It would have to be a monumental sale price to ever get me purchase anything again from Lowe's.

Thank you. Went for this one actually via instacart bc I had a $20 off $50 there. Was $52.49 on there, minus $20, plus fees, was $36 all in delivered assuming the delivery person doesn't steal it on route! Ha.

Just bought this set, put in checked luggage on international flight, arrived with no problem, everything in place and went right to work. Even if I leave this behind. The $50 beats trying to locate and buy a few of these sockets and ratchet in foreign country!
